Onboarding 1.1 at Flower: Learning the BESS ins and outs 🔧 A small but energetic Flower team visited the newly built 4 MW BESS in Sköldinge, one of Flower’s energy assets that is being optimized using Flower’s small and cutting-edge hardware system, the Flower Box. (See if you can spot it in the photos) This BESS is one of several battery projects that Flower now controls, and is currently up and running supporting the Swedish energy system. Low price on the FCR-D – here’s what to do 💡 In a recent article from the Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter, the low prices on the Swedish FCR-D markets are addressed. Some customers of home batteries are not receiving the compensation they were promised by their ancillary service company, showing the importance of choosing the right battery optimizer. Here’s what to make of the recent developments and what actions homeowners need to take going forward: ⚡The price on the FCR-D market has changed dramatically this year, and the extremely high levels seen in 2021-2023 are not representative of today’s more mature markets. While the prices are likely to rebound in the fall and winter, the prices at a 5-10 year perspective are expected to be similar to the levels seen this summer. Optimizers therefore need to think differently going forward. ⚡ Many companies in the market offer a compensation model based on the FCR-D price alone, leading to price instability for customers. By using partners with a fixed compensation model based on estimated value creation, home owners can be alleviated from the risk of participating only on the FCR-D markets and are ensured fixed earnings in advance.   ⚡ As the prices go down, spreading the risk by choosing to partner with a BRP (Balance Responsible Party) can make all the difference for battery owners in the years ahead. By making use of other ancillary services, trading on the spot and intraday markets, as well as other benefits related to grid services and balance responsibility, battery owners can secure new revenue streams. 🔗 Learn more: https://lnkd.in/dBstnt3D As an active service provider on the residential market, Flower is offering a wide range of services to homeowners that goes beyond having an aggregated portfolio on the FCR-D.
