We opened Fotografiska New York on Park Avenue South in 2019 - and it’s been nothing short of an incredible journey.   We put on dozens of exhibitions from some of the most influential names in photography, as well as those up-and-coming. We held thousands of programs and celebrations, and welcomed hundreds of thousands of visitors through our doors. Most importantly, over the past 5 years, we’ve witnessed a wonderful tight-knit Fotografiska community come together out of years that were often less-than communal.   While it’s bittersweet to say goodbye to this location, this is just a new chapter in our New York journey. Stay tuned for what we’ll be up to next! #FotografiskaNewYork

When hip-hop’s rich history resonates beyond the stage!   Last Friday, we celebrated hip-hop’s transformative impact on global culture and the countless lives it continues to inspire with the opening night of "Hip-Hop: Conscious Unconscious" at Fotografiska Berlin.   The event brought together freestyle rapping, dynamic performances, and eclectic DJ mixes, blending art, photography, and culture, with our local community uniting to celebrate hip-hop’s legacy, by sharing unforgettable moments on the dance floor.   A special thank you to our collaborators, Urban Logic Berlin, and our partner Johnnie Walker (Diageo), for their support in bringing this cultural celebration to life.   “Hip-Hop: Conscious, Unconscious", presented by Fotografiska and Mass Appeal is on view at Fotografiska Berlin until January 26, 2025.   #FotografiskaBerlin #Exhibition #Party #Opening #Music #HipHop

Our exploration of image culture extends beyond photography - and how unscripted events, much like photographs, can unexpectedly catalyze a cultural movement. In partnership with CNN, we recently hosted an exclusive screening of the upcoming CNN Original Series, "TV on the Edge: Moments That Shaped Our Culture," diving into the most impactful TV moments in American culture.   The New York event, which took place in early September, featured a panel of industry leaders, including Sara Sidner (CNN Anchor and Senior National Correspondent), Rachel Lindsay (Media Personality and Co-Host of the Higher Learning Podcast), Eric Johnson (CNN Studios Executive Producer), and Lisa France (CNN Entertainment Reporter). They led a rich discussion on the power of television as a mirror reflecting our society.   "TV on the Edge: Moments That Shaped Our Culture" will premiere this Sunday on CNN at 9 p.m. ET.

Say “hei hei!” to Fotografiska Oslo! Our sixth Fotografiska location, and second in Scandinavia, is set to open its doors in autumn 2027. Opening in Deich the historic Deichmanske building in the Norwegian capital’s Government Quarter, the new Fotografiska will carry on the tradition of inhabiting spaces that are culturally significant to the history of a city – in this instance Norway’s main public library, opened in 1933. Ever since opening our very first location in Stockholm in 2010, we’ve been dedicated to presenting the best of both up-and-coming and established artists and photographers whilst serving as a platform for each city’s own unique local art scene—and with its vibrant creative community, Oslo and Deich is a perfect match. For a taste of what’s to come, keep a lookout on @fotografiska.oslo on Instagram. Renders by: Paulsen & Nilsen AS #Fotografiska #FotografiskaOslo #Oslo #Photography #Art #Culture #Museum

We’re excited to announce the latest exhibition from Emerging Berlin – a program dedicated to supporting new local talent. Lukas Städler’s "Hain" takes viewers on a journey through Berlin’s hidden corners of the city’s gay cruising scene, offering a fresh and intimate perspective on spaces often considered taboo. This exhibition is the second installment in the Emerging Berlin series, where we give early-career photographers a platform to showcase their work at Fotografiska, along with mentorship, press opportunities, and direct professional exchange with industry experts. Check out some highlights from the opening night and experience "Hain" in person at Fotografiska Berlin through October 10. There's been a lot of talk about social media in the museum world, so I thought I'd write up some basics to help explain why Fotografiska has been so successful online. Let me know your thoughts, or feel free to ask some questions. Our team has gotten pretty good at it...

What an unforgettable night!   Earlier this week, Musoke Productions joined forces with The Swedish Ballroom Community to host an incredible event at Fotografiska Stockholm.   The night was a vibrant celebration of art, culture, and post-Pride unity, featuring dazzling ballroom performances and the premiere of the Musoke x Ballroom film—a special project created by and for members of the ballroom and LGBTQIA+ communities.    We’re so proud to have been part of this event and can’t wait for more collaborations that continue to inspire and uplift.   Special thanks to Cadillac Europe, MUSOKE PRODUCTIONS, and The Ballroom Community for making it all happen, and DJ Demba for keeping the energy going all night!

One street corner, one artist, and decades of downtown New York history. Last Thursday, we welcomed friends, family, and photo enthusiasts to Fotografiska New York to celebrate the opening of Jean-Andre Antoine’s “From Prince St. with Love”. This new installation from the famed NYC street photographer features years' worth of photos taken on the same corner—an incredibly engrossing way to document the city's ever-changing ambiance. Antoine captures his subjects on a 1947 Crown Graphic camera, juxtaposing the modernity of New York's street culture with the traditional feel of 20th-century photographic mediums. See more from opening night below and witness over 50 of his polaroids in our special exhibition running until September 29 at Fotografiska New York. Photos by Kayla Segal.
