We are delighted to share that we have partnered with New Zero World to improve climate communication and promote behavioural change through innovative storytelling. The new partnership focuses on developing an interactive Digital Knowledge Hub and a white paper to drive climate engagement. "Working together we have an opportunity to build on the momentum created by our white paper; A New Era in Climate Communications and ensure insights become action and action becomes impact on the journey to a world where everyone is inspired to be a part of the climate-nature solution.” /Natalia Vega, Founder and Executive Director, New Zero World The initiative also includes a Young Creatives Programme to educate emerging talents in climate literacy, backed by industry leaders like Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. #behaviouralchange #climateliteracy #climatecommunication

AI-Powered Smart Garment Sorting: Revolutionizing Textile Sustainability and Reducing Waste! Developed by our partner HKRITA - The Hong Kong Research Institute of Textiles and Apparel Limited, this tool uses AI and hyperspectral spectroscopy to improve textile sorting accuracy and efficiency. The system is customisable for operator needs and automates the analysis of garment types, materials and structures, reducing the need for virgin fibers and enhancing sustainability for fashion brands. As a result, fewer garments end up in landfills. 🙌 The Smart Garment Sorting System will be on display at Open Lab Hong Kong, which opens in September, a space where innovators can come together and work for a sustainable fashion future. If you want to know more, reach out to us! #fashioninnovation #ai #textilewaste #textilesorting #openlab

This is really interesting. 💡 Did you know how much the narrative we advocate for is influencing - or not influencing - behavioral change? Instead of making people feel powerless by preaching the gloom and doom narrative, it's time to make a shift towards positive engagement. We need to understand people, their capabilities and what motivates them to change. In case you’ve missed the Open Perspectives’ fireside chat between Frank Zambrelli and Prof Carolyn Mair PhD, we’ve picked out some of our favourite moments from their enlightening conversation. Check out the video below, or watch in it full on YouTube: https://lnkd.in/diJCzr_4 #openperspectives #narrativechange #behaviouralchange #psychology

From Waste Picker to Award-Winning Entrepreneur and Advocate 🌟 This is Indumathi, a true entrepreneurial hero who is making waves in the world of waste management and community empowerment. Working with our partners Hasiru Dala and Circular Apparel Innovation Factory (CAIF) , she has transformed a textile waste sorting center, expanding beyond the "usual" materials like plastic and cardboard to tackle textile waste. But Indumathi's journey is about much more than waste sorting. She has recently established a daycare center for the children of waste pickers who work for her, ensuring that the next generation has a safe space to learn and grow. Her story is nothing short of inspirational. Starting as a waste picker herself, Indumathi lived hand-to-mouth until she connected with Hasiru Dala, where she embraced entrepreneurship and leadership. Thanks to her relentless determination, she has not only sent her children to school - something she once couldn’t afford - but has also risen to become a key voice for her community. Today, she represents the The Alliance of Indian Wastepickers and speaks at global conferences, advocating for the rights and recognition of waste pickers worldwide. Her efforts and impact were recognized last year when she won the India Entrepreneur of the Year award. 🏆 Saamuhika Shakti #womenempowerment #entrepreneur #wastemanagement #textilewaste

Catch up with our programme in Bangladesh! We spoke to our Strategy Lead, Charlotte Brunnström about our initiative Oporajita - Collective Impact on Future of Work, where we equip women garment workers for a future defined by automation and digitalization. What’s currently happening within the Oporajita initiative? - We are in the final sprint of the implementation of phase 1 and approx. 55,000 people have been reached. We are training women garment workers in tech- and soft skilling to increase their chances of career progression in the era of automation. At the same time we’re making sure women and their families have access to healthcare, clean water, social security, child protection and parenting support. Has there been any exciting insights or learnings recently? - The work of providing orientation on policies such as anti-harassment, anti-gender-based violence, and maternity benefits to factory management and supervisors, is going really well! We’ve exceeded the set target as to the number of people reached with messages on the importance of questioning stereotypes on women’s capabilities related to tech and leadership. Through our innovation challenge there’s a bunch of changemakers in the pipeline, we’re also arranging round table discussions with key stakeholders and policymakers to share learnings related to the ongoing transition happening in the ready-made garment (RMG) industry. How can brands and investors engage in this initiative? - We work for the entire RMG industry, and all types of support is welcome to move the needle and to ensure that the green transition is also fair and inclusive. Oporajita consists of a cluster of more than 10 implementors from various areas of expertise and the bigger the ecosystem of supporters and peers the better! We provide a holistic support, meaning there are various interventions to support; some address out-of-work women to help them find new jobs linked to the green transition, while others address women workers struggling to compete for the new jobs on the same terms as their male colleagues.
