Had a great time this weekend at Tinkerfest (https://lnkd.in/dNMFh3Y9) at the Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites where hundreds of students, their teachers and parents got to try various STEM activities, including creative coding with imagi 👩🏾💻💟 One of my favorite booths was the Challenger Learning Center of Northwest Indiana (with Lara Bates ) obviously the coolest outfits but also I got to learn about the simulated space missions they host for schools throughout the year! 🚀👩🏽🚀 Thank you for hosting us Bethany Thomas ⭐️

AI is tranforming, not replacing computer science education 🤖 + 💻 = ✨ While AI is rapidly transforming industries, some believe that the need to teach coding is fading. At imagi, we see things differently. Coding isn’t just about securing a job (although that’s important too!)—it’s also a tool to help students develop skills like critical thinking, creativity, problem-solving, and so much more. Our mission at imagi is about empowering students—especially girls and underrepresented groups—to engage with the digital world, build confidence, and develop skills that can be applied in any field, so many of which are being shaped by AI. The rise of AI doesn’t mean the end of coding—it means evolving how we teach it. Just like calculators didn’t replace the need to learn math, AI will support, not replace, coding education. We’re really excited to announce that imagi Edu is evolving too. Our AI-powered Debugging Buddy, debuting on September 16, is designed to empower students and teachers of all experience levels as they navigate learning to code in Python. Our goal is that it will help support perseverance and independent problem-solving in students, deepening their learning and confidence in using AI, while also helping them understand its limitations. We’ve been encouraged by early feedback from our wonderful educator community that we’re headed in the right direction. imagi interns never fail to CHARM us with their brilliance and talent! We’re so grateful to have had Emma Coye and Symbat Bekzhigit join us this summer. Symbat is a senior at New York University Abu Dhabi majoring in Computer Science and minoring in Interactive Media and Applied Maths. As a Software Development Intern at imagi, she worked on improving the imagi Edu platform, fixing different UI elements and solving bugs to improve the experience of using the platform for educators and students. She also had an opportunity to contribute to the development of a new exciting feature (still in progress) that would allow students and educators to download the project previews in Gif and MP4 formats to share. As someone who is passionate about Creative Coding, working at imagi was a great opportunity for her to learn about startup culture in the Creative Coding industry. Emma is a junior studying Computer Science and Journalism at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. At imagi, she assisted in designing an engaging, new curriculum for beginner Python programmers. This included curating lesson plans, assessments, learning objectives, researching teaching strategies and materials, and creating fun interactive content. While designing she wanted to make sure curriculum was accessible and appealing to all. Being a part of imagi was an incredible experience as she worked with an amazing team of women in the tech industry. It was rewarding to know that she could help fuel the passion for tech and computer science in young girls and those who are gender non-conforming with her work.

imagi Creative coding for University Professors! 🎓 We recently had the opportunity to collaborate with faculty members at Butler University as they launch their “Computational Thinking for All” initiative. 💭 ⚡️Beatrice delivered an engaging session proving that learning about computational thinking can be an interactive and fun activity. With 92% of careers requiring digital skills According to a 2023 report published by the National Skills Collation (NSC), Butler University is embedding computational thinking into their core curriculum to prepare all students for a tech-driven world. 👩🏾💻 This initiative ensures students from every discipline can develop problem-solving skills essential for today’s workforce. Rather than focusing on specific technologies, it empowers students to think critically and apply computational approaches to complex challenges. This is exactly what we did with imagi as well, showing that professors from various disciplines could come up with creative coding projects that are relevant / linked to their courses. Thank you Stephanie Hinshaw Ed.D., Jon Sorenson and Molly Nebiolo for having us and we can't wait to see how computation thinking will be integrated across the curriculum at Butler. 🙌

As so many educators in our community head back to school, we find ourselves re-inspired by the work of our partners who work tirelessly to ensure all of our students, but particularly students often underrepresented in STEM fields, have access to quality computer science education. At the end of last year, we had the distinct privilege of learning from several outstanding educators at some of our all-girls partner schools leveraging imagi around the world. Anna Jacinta Machado Mello, Shalim Rodriguez, and Michelle Gelbs, Ph.D. from The Chapin School, Laurie Kuchirka from Trafalgar Castle School, and Jack Walker from St George’s School, Edinburgh have dedicated themselves to equipping their students with the skills and confidence to thrive in today’s rapidly changing digital landscape and have achieved remarkable results.
