We are excited to announce that K-Lab will become a part of Granlund. Granlund, a Finnish group of companies in the real estate and construction sector, will expand its business in Sweden through a strategic majority acquisition of K-Lab Projektering AB. The acquisition between the companies has been signed 20th of June 2024 According to Timo Ranne, Granlund's Director of International Business, K-Lab will significantly strengthen Granlund's position in Nordic data center projects. 💬 "Structural engineering is a significant business growth area for us, and with the acquisition, we can offer our customers even more diverse local expertise for data center projects." In recent years, Granlund and K-Lab have collaborated on several data center projects in Sweden and Finland. 💬 "The partnership enables us to expand our services and increase our market share in the data center sector in the Nordics," says Graham Edge, CEO of K-Lab Projektering AB. Granlund has over 10 years of experience in data center projects. Most of the projects have been carried out in the Nordic countries, but also elsewhere in Europe. Project management and building services design have traditionally been Granlund's strengths, but now its expertise has also been expanded to structural and architectural design. 💬 "Data centers are one of the largest business sectors at Granlund, which is only expected to grow in the future. K-LAB was founded with the purpose of challenging the structural engineering norms in the Scandinavian construction industry. The K-LAB team has worked on a variety of innovative engineering projects across the world and now brings together over 80 years of collective engineering experience to make our clients' visions a reality. With backgrounds in construction management, structural engineering, project management and BIM coordination, we aim to use the latest technologies and thinking in order to improve the way projects are delivered. Our core team of structural engineers and modellers come from different backgrounds and have complementary strengths. This, along with a strong commercial understanding allows us to look at design from a number of viewpoints to ultimately find the best solutions to meet our clients’ needs and understand what to prioritise to achieve the best result for our clients. We recognise that each and every project is different and has its own challenges and opportunities. We aim to deliver high quality structural designs and documentation with a focus on quick, interactive design processes that engage the entire design team. All of our designs at K-LAB focus on the three main principles of the construction industry - time, quality and cost. Through our careful planning and alternative approach, we strive to offer solutions which are not only cost effective in terms of materials, but also offer improved construction periods on site, whilst ensuring that they satisfy the requirements for a BREEAM or LEED certified building.
