"Growth in region Europe is back, but low new construction continues to be challenging. The high interest rates together with the concerns in the world continue to have an adverse impact on the residential segment in both Europe and the USA especially in new construction. However, we are seeing that the activity level and order intake are increasing connected to the renovation market in some markets in Europe. The USA is more cautious due to expected interest rate cuts. On a positive note, we once again have growth in region Europe in the second quarter. We expect the demand to gradually rebound during the second half of 2024 and further strengthen in 2025 even though we see continued low activity levels for new construction in Europe, particularly in Sweden and Finland, and the DACH region. In the commercial segment, the activity levels linked to healthcare, schools and defence and correctional services are continuing to increase, offering possibilities for Kährs. The long lead times mean that these effects will have an impact in late 2024 and thereafter. In both Europe and the USA we have continued our strategic focus on strengthening our market presence through processing new customers, combined with new product launches and an improved customer experience. At the same time we continue to improve our internal cost- and capital-efficiency through new ways of working and by reducing employed capital in stock. For the second consecutive year, Kährs won the prestigious Floor Covering News 2024 Award of Excellence. Voted by customers in the retail flooring trade in the USA, this recognition emphasises Kährs’ strong partnership with retail and our steadfast commitment to delivering exceptional customer value. We continue investments in our strategic shift: to grow faster in selected markets in Europe and the USA, to launch new innovative and more sustainable product platforms, and to continue to improve Kährs’ customer experience, with a high level of commitment and in cooperation with our distribution channels and partners. In parallel, we continue to adapt the business to a challenging housing market in the short term.", President & CEO Johan Magnusson comments. Hej all The construction and building sector alone accounts for 37% of total global CO2 emissions, and the science on climate change and following impacts continues to disturb us all. We know that we need to accelerate climate action and take bold decisions, as companies have a big responsibility tackling climate change. I am very happy and proud to share Kährs Group's climate targets that has been approved by the Science Based Target Initiative (SBTI). Kährs Group's SBTi approved targets: - Reducing absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions 95% by 2030 (compared to our 2020 baseline) - Reducing scope 3 GHG emissions by 42% by 2030 (compared to our 2020 baseyear) - Reaching net-zero emissions by 2040 the latest - Reduce absolute scope 3 FLAG GHG emissions 72% by 2040 from a 2020 base year To reach our goals, we have developed ambitious, realistic and achievable action plans aligned throughout our organisation, to continue transition our business towards Net Zero. We have also had a big focus on internal education, governance and making sustainability part of our core business strategy. Some of the actions we have on our to-do list is: - 100% renewable electricity and reduced energy plan across operations from 2024 - Transitioning towards a circular business for all our product categories - Increase use and sourcing of raw materials with a lower climate footprint - Collaborate with our partners and suppliers to lower their climate footprint - Promoting sustainable choices and ways to prolong product life for our customers. Setting targets, plans and committing to actions is only the beginning, but we are very proud of our 77% decrease in absolute scope 1 & 2 GHG emissions already from our baseline 2020. We will continue to report regularly and transparently on our progress and challenges. #climateaction Learn more here:

Strategic investments and optimisation of profitability continue to improve cash flow in a challenging market situation "We see that our investments in new, innovative and sustainable product offerings and an improved customer experience continue to generate good results even if the very weak demand in the residential segment affects our sales in the quarter. On a positive note, we see an increased order intake in our European operations where our stock-holding distribution channels are more in balance at the same time as the renovation market is starting to recover in certain markets in Europe. In the quarter, we continued to launch new products within all main categories as well as a completely new platform, developed for the North American market. In both Europe and the USA we have continued to strategically focus on new customers, and to further develop our position on new growing markets we have during the quarter strengthened our organisation with a new sales management. In the USA we are also in full swing establishing the sales to a nationwide distribution within our commercial business to strengthen the position of our unique environmentally certified products towards the education and healthcare segments. We continue to develop our sustainability position and we are proud that Kährs’ science-based targets for the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions for net zero were recently validated and approved by the Science Based Targets initiative, SBTi. Kährs continues to adapt and optimise its operations to the prevailing market conditions with a focus on cash flow, continuous profitability-enhancing measures, and continued good cost awareness. We are well equipped to meet coming challenges and opportunities as we continue our efforts to reach the goal of being the leading actor in flooring solutions in selected markets in Europe and the USA. We continue to implement our strategy with great commitment!", President & CEO Johan Magnusson comments. Read the Interim Report for Quarter 1, 2024: https://lnkd.in/dTDbcRcX

Here at Kährs we recognise our responsibility to biodiversity and ecosystems. Our love for nature runs deep and is in our DNA, with a close connection to the forests that cover Sweden. We understand the vital importance of protecting and preserving biodiversity for future generations. Our commitment to sustainability is not just a promise; it's ingrained in every aspect of our business. By 2030, we aim to use sustainably sourced renewable or recycled materials for all our products, striving to leave a positive impact by regenerating resources, protecting ecosystems, and enhancing biodiversity. At Kährs, we take concrete steps to protect and restore biodiversity. Our stringent standards ensure that all timber purchases adhere to the EU Timber Regulation and our own rigorous criteria for responsible forest management. Through certifications like FSC® and PEFC, we validate our commitment to sustainability and responsible sourcing. Magnus Bergström, from our Wood Purchasing team, sums it up perfectly: "We work daily to ensure that when purchasing oak timber, it comes from sustainably managed forests, inspiring knowledge about sustainable management and biological diversity." Moreover, we're not just stopping at sustainability; we're thriving with nature. Our recent validations by SBTi and FLAG attest to our ambitious targets, including achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across our value chain by 2040 and sourcing 100% renewable electricity by 2030. With these commitments firmly in place, we're dedicated to transforming our business models to minimize our environmental footprint and contribute positively to biodiversity. Our 2023 Sustainability Report provides deeper insights into our journey and our relentless pursuit to be part of the solution. Join us on our sustainability journey, and let's pave the way for a greener, more sustainable future together.

Kährs Group Sustainability Report for 2023 published In 2023, we made promising progress in many sustainability areas, including our use of renewable energy, reducing the carbon footprint of our own operations, exploring solutions for circularity, and in our supplier risk assessments and engagement. We also measured and analyzed more data and metrics than ever before to better capture our sustainability impact. At the same time, our results from 2023 have helped us to identify where we have the biggest obstacles to overcome; our choice of raw materials, transportation routes and emissions, the impact of the products we source externally, and where our products end up after use. Our operational climate footprint decreased by 77%, compared to our 2020 baseline, and we continue to strive toward decreasing our footprint each year, through an ambitious and aligned low-carbon transition plan, until we reach our net-zero target by 2030, During 2023 we have also focused heavily on new reporting standards, identified gaps for prioritisation, and, most importantly, worked collaboratively throughout the company – because Sustainability is everybody's business.
