The European Office of the Konrad-Adenauer-Foundation is delighted to invite you to the next session of our event format “KAS Europe Talks”. In this online format, we are organising discussions with the Director of a different KAS Office on a regular basis, in which the latest developments in the respective country or region as well as the status quo of the relations with the European Union are discussed. The next session will focus on the US Presidential Elections, scheduled for the the 5th of November. In it, we take a look at the domestic political situation surrounding the elections within the USA, the impact of the election result on the future of transatlantic relations, and what this means for the international system and the influence of the USA in other regions of the world. The event "KAS Europe Talks: US Elections and the Future of Transatlantic Relations" will take place on Thursday, 7th November 2024, from 16:00-17:00 CET via Zoom. We are looking forward to discuss the above-mentioned topics with our colleague Dr. Hardy Ostry, Director of the KAS Office in Washington D.C.. After the discussion between Dr. Ostry and Dr. Beatrice Gorawantschy, Director of the KAS European Office, the audience will have the opportunity to contribute their questions to the conversation. The event will be held in German with simultaneous translation into English. For registration, please use the following link: https://lnkd.in/e_56P3GX

This past Monday, the 25th anniversary celebrations for the Nordic Embassy Complex in Berlin were held. This past Monday, the 25th anniversary celebrations for the Nordic Embassy Complex in Berlin were held. The event once again put the distinctive strengths of Nordic cooperation into focus, which has reached new heights, even extending beyond shared membership in the EU and NATO. Yet, individual differences and challenges remain. It has been one of our missions to engage with these differences and contribute to the political dialogue between the Nordic countries. One of our most recent projects in this context, a report commissioned in collaboration with the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI), explores the Norwegian public’s attitudes to foreign policy. Last week, our team had the opportunity to attend the Arctic Circle Assembly in Reykjavik. The breakout and plenary session were thought-provoking and provided us with valuable insights and new impulses for our future engagement in the Arctic region. We were also pleased to see our surveys on the changing foreign policy attitudes in Arctic countries receive positive feedback from our fellow attendees. For more information on the most recent surveys, please follow the links below. Iceland: https://lnkd.in/d_uvv_8U The Faroe Islands: https://lnkd.in/d2E8CvE5

Today, we had the honor of participating in the launch of Civitas' new study guide for their book "Kristdemokrati: Människosyn, etik, politik" at the Riksdag. It was a pleasure to co-finance this project, and we look forward to future collaborations with Civitas and the Kristdemokraterna!

Standing at the intersection of climate change, renewed geopolitical tensions, and the race for resources, the Arctic region continues to gain prominence in global politics. It has been a core mission of KAS Nordic Countries to shine a light on these trends and developments, as demonstrated by our series of surveys on foreign policy attitudes in the Arctic countries. We are therefore proud to share our short documentary, “The Arctic: Climate Change & Geopolitics - Insights and Challenges”, produced at the Arctic Congress in Bodø. The video features distinguished experts in Arctic politics and highlights current geopolitical and security-related trends. Watch the documentary here: https://lnkd.in/dVr-4egt

As the world awaits the outcome of the US elections, KAS Nordic Countries, in cooperation with the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute, gathered experts from across the Nordics to explore the election’s potential impact for Nordic security in the Arctic and Baltic Sea regions. Over two days of discussion, participants not only shared valuable insights but also exchanged perspectives that we hope will spark further expert debate on this topic. We want to extend our sincere gratitude to SIPRI, particularly Barbara Kunz, for being the driving force behind this workshop, and to all the participants that generously contributed their valuable engagement and expertise to this timely debate.
