Case Study: A service- and industrial company operating in the Nordic and Baltic regions were struggling with profitability issues Background: The company, providing service solutions to both B2B and B2C sectors, was facing significant challenges with profitability, quality, and delivery precision. Their largest client was threatening to seek a new supplier while the private equity owners were planning to sell the company. Challenge: The message from the group CEO was clear: "Nothing is working, there has been no control over production and follow-up!" Assignment: An interim CEO was engaged to lead and drive the development of the business, achieve significant efficiency improvements and quality enhancements with the goal of restoring profitability and market leadership in the Nordic region. Results: After identifying major disruptions in logistics, tasks were prioritized correctly. The team's objectives were visualized, including a performance monitoring board, and the ongoing lean process was accelerated with the involvement of the employees. Efficiency was increased by nearly 50% and the productivity increased by 45%, yet many perceive their workload as less stressful. The Interim CEO says: "When I began my assignment, I introduced myself and my approach. I allowed all key individuals to describe their views on the problems, and it turned out that many lacked someone to question, follow up, and set goals. I made it clear that we needed to increase efficiency and quality to retain our largest client. I emphasized that it wasn't about running faster but working smarter. Two pilot teams set their own goals and various tasks to identify major disruptions. Every day we followed up on why goals were or weren't achieved. My skills and experience, combined with the ability to communicate with all kinds of people, have earned me the trust to lead.
