This week we share some beverage Trends from Finland for 2025! 🇫🇮 The Finnish wine market is evolving with changing consumer preferences. 🥛 Lower Alcohol and Alcohol-Free Growth Demand for alcohol-free beverages continues to diversify, with sparkling teas and other unique styles becoming popular not just as alternatives to alcoholic drinks but also to soft drinks. Low-alcohol, low-carb and non-alcoholic options align with wellness trends and mindful consumption. 🤓 Experimentation and Unique Experiences Consumers are drawn to new taste experiences, with interest growing in lesser-known wine regions and premium sparkling wine alternatives. 🍾 Light and Easy-Drinking Wines Lighter wines, including fresh whites, sparkling wines, and approachable reds, remain popular. These align with Finland’s casual dining culture, where wines complement pizza and burgers. 🚜 Shift Towards Individuality and Sustainability Authentic stories and sustainable practices drive interest in small producers, particularly from European regions. Packaging innovation, such as eco-friendly alternatives to heavy glass bottles, is becoming more accepted and even celebrated. 🥂 Mindful Spending and Smaller Formats Price-consciousness is a strong driver, with consumers seeking affordable options without compromising quality. Smaller formats, like 375ml bottles, meet the needs of both tighter budgets and mindful drinking. 🍹 Z-Generation Challenges The younger generation leans more toward cocktails, mocktails, and hard seltzers than traditional wine. To capture this audience, the wine industry must emphasize authenticity, sustainability, and innovative storytelling. 🧃 Sweetness and Visual Appeal Sweetness is making a comeback in beverages, with spritz-style drinks and colorful, Instagram-friendly options gaining traction. 🍷 Classic Wines Hold Their Place While new trends emerge, classic wines like Bordeaux reds and champagne remain favourites among those seeking accessible luxury for special occasions. Finland’s 2025 trends reflect a balance between cost-consciousness and a desire for unique, sustainable, and emotionally engaging drinking experiences. 💐 Thanks to our main Sources: Alko Oy, Linda Forssell, Juha Lihtonen! After trend updates from Finland and Sweden, it is time to take a look at Norway! 🫗 Lower sugar, “NoLo” and premiumization remain on the rise. In urban areas, young wine enthusiasts favor orange wine, natural wine, pét-nat, and juicy red wines. Sake, cider, fruit wine, and craft-style sour beers are also part of this same trend landscape. 🌿Like in Finland and Sweden, sustainable packaging, certifications and ethical production have increasing focus in Norway. 🍷Tailored launches address diverse segments, from value-focused buyers to premium seekers and urban, trend-conscious consumers. There is increased interest in wine courses, wine collecting, auctions, podcasts, and wine groups on social media. Some highlights among the coming launches: ✨ Strong demand continues for classic regions like Bordeaux, Burgundy, and Rioja, while emerging areas like England are gaining traction. 🇿🇦 South African White Wines: growing demand for fresh, elegant chardonnay and sauvignon blanc that complement the summer season. 🇮🇹 Sicily: Unique styles like frappato for chilled red wines and fiano for aromatic whites - perfect for climate-conscious consumers. 🇬🇷 Greece: From floral moschofilero to dynamic agiorgitiko rosés, and rare reds like limniona, Greece continues to impress wine lovers. 🇨🇭 Switzerland: Showcasing native varieties like chasselas, heida, and pinot noir that thrive in the high-altitude terroirs of Switzerland. 🍺 Lighter reds, grill-friendly wines, and innovative beer or spirits like kveik-based Norwegian ales. Please let us know if you need more details on the coming launches! 🥂 Thanks to our main sources: Arnt Egil Nordlien, Siv Auestad Horn & team at A/S Vinmonopolet Picture: Vinmonopolet

🍷 Is moderate wine consumption linked to better health outcomes? Monika Elling explores research that challenges the one-size-fits-all narrative on alcohol. Surprisingly, moderate wine drinking shows a protective trend against several cancers. Dive into the details!

Wines and Spirits: All Alcohol is Not Created Equal: "Association Between Wine Consumption and Cancer: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis." It is good to know that the information regarding the protective impact on wellness from moderate wine consumption has been studied, ad nauseum. For the Landmark Study covered in the article below, 316 existing studies were reviewed to produce the analysis from the relevant 73, culminating with the "Association between wine consumption and cancer: a systematic review and meta-analysis." It was published by the NIH in September 2023, and included tens of thousands of participants over decades of research. I am barely scratching the surface by simply publishing existing information, and people should look further for greater insight. What is clear, however is that messaging and interpretation from last week's Surgeon General's report chooses to ignore relevant data. READ ARTICLE FOR MORE:
