Oct 12th is World Arthritis Day. A global awareness day aimed to increase knowledge and impact of rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases (RMDs). Together with patient experts and advocates, IFPA launched the Good Care Campaign for Psoriatic Arthritis which aims to empower people living with Psoriatic Arthritis with information needed during the healthcare visits. 💡 Living with #PsoriaticArthritis often means managing chronic pain. By sharing experiences and addressing misconceptions, we can help raise awareness and support others. Did you know there are 2 main types of psoriatic disease? Psoriasis (Pso) and psoriatic arthritis (PsA). PsA develops in about 30% of cases and is characterised by inflammation of the joints and tendons. Understanding these conditions helps us support those affected, their families and spread awareness. Society’s perception is an important factor contributing to stigma against psoriatic disease. Some studies have shown that, despite a wide variation between countries, there is still a general unawareness and misinformation on what psoriatic disease is. Even though people may have heard the term ‘psoriasis’ before, very little is known about the disease. Let's come together to foster awareness and empathy. Research from several European countries shows that 34% of women with psoriatic disease interviewed decided to have a smaller family or no children, and 27% were more likely to adopt. The Global Psoriasis Atlas(GPA) research team, Steering Committee, Board, and Funders held discussions and updates from the latest research.
