First our sales manager was knocked off his feet by the flu the week leading up to SMM Hamburg. Then our hotel rooms were cancelled(?) by the booking agent late Friday afternoon. Still, we arrived in Hamburg on time - with new hotel rooms secured. By opening time, we were both rested and ready! We are just back from another successful installation of DEGO IV engine governors and ASAC actuators, this time on the crude oil tanker Petrosamudera in Hong Kong. Petrosamudera, that mainly operates in the South China Sea, is a 20-year-old ship, so it was time to replace the older Kongsberg governor and actuator with new units for digital propulsion control. This project was managed by our new partner in Singapore, the company MARICO Engineering Pte. Ltd. We are so grateful to Patrick Sagaran and his team for their excellent performance and quality of the project. DEGO IV provides real-time performance monitoring, engine diagnostics, remote support and integration through standard communication protocols. ASAC provides precise control over the fuel rack in a rugged design suitable for rough environments. Marine green technology company Qtagg is to digitise the propulsion control on CorsicaLinea’s Danielle Casanova, which the French shipping company hopes will reduce fuel consumption by six to eight per cent. “As a company we have an ambitious plan to reduce our total carbon dioxide emissions by 40 per cent until 2030 and continue to move towards sustainable maritime transport in the Mediterranean,” said Julien Colin of Corsica Linea. #ferry #sustainability #shipping

Some girls like to go to the spa to relax and refresh, but older ladies, like this one, goes to the dry dock to freshen up 😊 This is not our first encounter with Corsica Ferries's Mega Regina. She already has a previous version of the Qtagg DEGO engine governors installed, but it is time to replace the ASAC 70 actuators, supplied with the governors, with the newer ASAC 120 version. As the name indicates, they can deliver 120 NM torque continuously. In addition, they can give up to 240 NM for shorter periods when needed. Other benefits are a maintenance free design and a digital control allowing for better monitoring and follow up of the fuel rack performance. Before timelines are finalized and commitments are made, the Qtagg staff always conducts an in-person survey and assessment to ensure a proper understanding of prerequisites and conditions on board the vessel. Season’s greetings from the team at Qtagg! This year we contributed to even more fuel savings, decreased emissions and better control over ship efficiency. At the other side of the globe our EcoPilot system has been working wonders aboard the passenger ferry Kaitaki, that is owned and operated by Interislander. Kaitaki operates on a route between New Zealand’s two main islands where the weather fluctuates quite a bit. Weather routing in combination with automatic propulsion control has cut fuel consumption by 13% without affecting the service level provided to passengers.
