biggest flaw in IoT - the use of Linux. if you dont use Linux; you are basicaly forced to extract firmware from flash and reverse engineer (decompile) the whole damn thing - which will either be running barebones or have some form of scheduling via an RTOS.. no shell, no exec() command.. no external interfaces with passwords.. if you want to hack something? binary patching.. at best - a smart bootloader can perform anti-tampering checks :) looks like our IoT platform is safe - at least from this level of "hacking".. i do love the "dolphin reference, to the flipper zero"

Here's the Embedded World NA quote of the day. In his keynote remarks this morning, Daniel Cooley, Silicon Labs CTO, said "You can't scale IoT on bare metal." I agree, and I've written a lot about that over the past two years. Embedded product companies that use off-the-shelf RTOSes (and OSes) pre-integrated with silicon platforms can concentrate on writing application code and minimize (or eliminate) the cost, time, security risks, and technical debt of custom system software. The economic benefits of this strategy outweigh the additional hardware cost for all but the most cost constrained, power-limited, or air-gapped products. To show that Silicon Labs is "all in" on this, Mr. Cooley held up a sample of a new 22nm Series 3 chip, built for inferencing, post-quantum security, and extensible memory and storage. #SiliconLabs #ewna #EmbeddedWorld
