Our CEO, Emil Svanberg, is in Canada, visiting Sudbury and Toronto this week. Here he is speaking at the Vale Cavern in the beautiful science center in Sudbury. This unique place is home to multiple deep mines where expert practitioners at both Vale and Glencore are doing an incredible job managing the seismic risks (and more) on a daily basis. Next stop Toronto for the Sweden Canada Innovation Day, where we will be featured in one of the panel discussions. Thanks to Business Sweden, and especially Artemida Bodounova and Mikael Johansson for arranging this. Thanks to Lars Teglund, Swedish Mining Innovation & Swedish Metals & Minerals for the video.
Om oss
We are a company originating from the research department at the mining company LKAB and Luleå University of Technology, with the aim to reach new customers and collaboration partners to enhance the safety for personnel working in mines. Our solutions are based on more than 12 years of research with results published in the world’s leading journals in geophysics and delivers results with a significantly improved accuracy than today’s routine processing methods. We combine physical relationships with state-of-the art statistical models that adapt to both an unknown and changing mining environment. This unique combination is essential for dealing with the major uncertainties in the mine, as well as to continuously calibrate the models for changes in the wave propagation caused by historical and future mining. We offer fully automatic, robust and reliable processing of seismic events, with performance reaching far beyond human capabilities. Together with seismic predictions and tomographic imaging of the rock mass we provide a unique understanding of how the production affects the rock mass.

This week we are in Montreal for International Conferences on Deep and High Stress Mining . Jesper Martinsson has done a great job presented our two conference contributions, and we have had lots of very fruitful conversations with world leading experts in deep mining. It is a good thing that we are into seismic processing and not photography.

As #Massmin2024 is soon to be over, we reflect upon the significance of bringing people and organisations from all corners of the world together to discuss critical safety and sustainability challenges. The event has offered a great platform for sharing best-practices as well as learning from past mistakes, and the genuine drive to improve and change has been felt up and down the hallways of the conference venue and at the evening social events. We have met many great people, had interesting conversations, and learned a lot about the future of mass mining. Thanks to LKAB for organising. Great venue, where the best of the old (clock tower) is blended in with the new (Kiruna town center), highly representative of the knowledge sharing theme. Next week, we do more of the same at Deep Mining in Montreal. Hope to see you there.

Ore pass health status is critical to production in underground mining. With wear, they may become dangerous or just not work that well, which negatively impacts production, and may cause expensive ore pass rehabilitation. Here is a great example where our expertise in finding value in seismic data is applied to ore pass monitoring.

Our web based tools provide a smooth experience on smartphones, PC’s and control room settings, fully supporting mobile and remote use. Real-time seismic data to those that need it, when and where they need it. In this example, BEMIS Quake Monitor shows location uncertainty and fast and easy access to the underlying waveform data, for immediate and intuitive data quality assurance. We will be in Kiruna for Massmin 2024 and hope to see you there! Jesper Martinsson, Founder and CTO, will be presenting our contribution "Innovative Bayesian-Based Seismic Anomaly Detection", which sounds complicated but is in fact is a pretty straightforward traffic light-type system. Jesper is as serious about seismic processing as he is passionate about climbing.

📣 Our BEMIS 1.0 seismic processing solution has been in operations in two very large mines, and in testing at more than 10 mines globally during the past year, igniting a wave of excitement, pushing the boundaries of current best practices and propelling seismic processing into a new era of innovation. 🎉 📣 Introducing BEMIS 2.0, we are making a new generation of robust and noise tolerant algorithms available, capturing even more value from your existing seismic arrays. 💰 This new version also includes proven integration with a leading vendor of Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS), fortifying our multi-vendor and multi-tech position, and opening the door to a new world of data and insight. A seismic catalogue helps miners see and understand how the rock mass responds to mining activity. 👓 Quite simply, BEMIS 2.0 will help miners see things more clearly. 🔎
