#Europe | Ces lundi 14 et mardi 15 octobre, se tenait la première assemblée générale conjointe des PIIEC Batteries et EuBatIn à Lyon, co-organisée par la Direction Générale des Entreprises, l’Allemagne (Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action and VDI/VDE-IT) et Région Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes-Alpes Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Entreprises. Les États membres, des représentants de la Commission européenne (DG COMP et DG GROW) et des entreprises du secteur des batteries se sont réunis pour faire le point sur l’avancée des projets ce ces projets importants d’intérêt européens commun (PIIEC) autorisés en 2019 en 2021, et les défis et opportunités pour l’écosystème européen des batteries. Au programme de ces journées : ✔ Différentes sessions de travail entre la Commission européenne, les États membres et les entreprises des deux PIIEC Batteries. ✔ Les interventions sur l’état de la filière européenne des batteries de Avicenne Energy et des fabricants de batteries Northvolt et Skeleton Technologies. ✔Une table ronde animée par Bpifrance sur les enjeux de financement de ces projets avec European Investment Bank (EIB), EBA , Syensqo.   ✔ Une visite de l’usine de production de graphite très bas-carbone de Tokai COBEX Savoie. ✔ La présentation de 4 startups/PME régionales ENTROVIEW, WATTALPS, Enersens et SPOOLEX.   ✔ Une réception donnée par Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Entreprises pour permettre un échange entre l’écosystème régional et les entreprises des PIIEC Batteries. 💡 Les deux Projets importants d'intérêt européen commun (PIIEC) sur les batteries visent une transformation durable de l'Union européenne, à travers la décarbonation des mobilités individuelles. Ils couvrent l'ensemble de la chaîne de valeur batteries avec 4 axes de travail : matières premières et matériaux avancés ; cellules et modules; systèmes de batteries ; réaffectation, recyclage et raffinage. Last week, we at SEEL in Gothenburg welcomed the 𝐍𝐞𝐱𝐭 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐃𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐍𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤. Here at SEEL Swedish Electric Transport Laboratory, we have state-of-the-art equipment for type testing, a valuable asset in supporting the transition to more sustainable technologies. The visit confirmed that the production process development at ASSAR Industrial Innovation Arena in Skövde, particularly in power electronics, complements the product development testing we conduct at SEEL. Collaboration within the network is key to providing the best support for the industry's transformation. We look forward to fruitful cooperation for a safer, more sustainable world. Last week I was warmly welcomed in Sweden by the RISE GROUP team Jonna Hynynen, Ola Willstrand, Martin G. H. Gustavsson, Nataliia Mozhzhukhina, Marcus Rasmussen, and Maria Quant to tour the SEEL (Swedish Electric Transport Laboratory) battery testing facilities in Gothenburg, and RISE Fire Testing Lab in Borås Sweden. The new fire test lab in Borås was quite impressive (including the sauna for toxin removal for the technicians 👏 ). It was interesting to learn that Batteries at RISE is the 1st lab in the EU to start UL 9540A testing for ESS. I shared the work we are doing at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory to develop new battery materials, the testing starting at our GSL lab, and our work on ESS safety. I was also fortunate to be able to meet with senior staff with the Gothenburg Fire Service to learn of their current research around battery responses and remaining gaps.
