What would it take to make the $10 genome a reality? Despite the growing demand for genomic data and the falling price of genome sequencing, costs continue to limit its widespread use. Single Technologies is pioneering a groundbreaking three-dimensional approach to sequencing that could exponentially slash the cost to just $10 per genome. In the latest RARECast podcast episode, Daniel Levine sat down with Johan Strömqvist, CEO and founder of Single Technologies, and Bob Kain, advisor to the company, to delve into their revolutionary 3-D Sequencing technology. 📢 Press Release: Renowned genomics pioneer, Bob Kain, joins Single Technologies as an advisor! As many people will already be aware, Bob had an illustrious career at Illumina, helping invent the first modern, high throughput genome sequencer and grow the company from a 30-employee start-up into a commercial giant. We are sure his experience will prove invaluable as we ramp up commercialisation of our own revolutionary sequencing platform, the Theta 3D DNA sequencer, which will increase the potential number of reads in a run many times and at much lower cost. Johan Strömqvist, Single Technologies' CEO, says of Bob's joining: “Not only is it a huge vote of confidence in us and our technology, but also a vote of confidence in the future of sequencing.” Bob comments on Theta, “It is the first truly disruptive architecture I have seen that has the ability to reach the $10 per genome price point.” 👉 Read the full press release on our website: https://lnkd.in/dcVh_e9S #Genomics #Innovation #DNASequencing #3Dsequencing

Bob Kain and I was recently talking with GenomeWeb regarding our technology progress in the sequencing space. We believe 3-D Sequencing™ has the capability to disrupt Next Generation Sequencing. I believe the marriage of sequencing and AI, gene editing and reprogramming of cells, and the new verticals popping up when utilizing DNA as an information carrier (rather than just treat it as a storage of hereditary information) will be bigger than anything else we've seen since the birth of life. https://lnkd.in/gK38QRs5 #sequencing #genomics #disrupt #proteomics #3D #imaging #spatial

We all know someone suffering from stroke or a neurodegenerative disease with little or no chance to regenerate sufficient brain function. However, there is hope, using a novel gene editing approach from Stefan Stricker lab at Helmholtz Munich to reprogram glial cells (support cells) into neurons and smart delivery formulations from Lino Ferreira lab at Universidade de Coimbra to access the brain, the brain could be repaired. Single Technologies proudly joined the 3M EUR EU funded consortium #REGENERAR together with labs of Lino Ferreira and Stefan Stricker as well as Hovione, Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft and SPI - Sociedade Portuguesa de Inovação to provide our 3-D Sequencing technology and thereby increasing the success of this project as well as pushing our 3-D Sequencer to the limits of what is possible.

🔍 🧬 ⚡ Our unique 3-D matrix enables massively parallel reactions in three dimensions, allowing DNA to be distributed densely in a volume and therefore increasing bandwidth. But this requires super fast 3-D imaging not possible with traditional confocal microscopes. As part of our proprietary suite of 3-D technologies, Single has developed the world’s fastest true confocal scanner, currently 800 times faster than a confocal microscope. It images large areas in three dimensions at the optical resolution limit with single fluorescence molecule sensitivity, and enables signal detection for NGS sequencing and the imaging of cells or tissue at the same time. 👉 Learn more about our technology on our website: https://lnkd.in/dB-X3gbp #3Dsequencing #genomics

In the world of sequencing, reagents are expensive, and efficient fluid use and exchange are therefore crucial from both a technical and cost perspective in any sequencing technology. Single’s unique 'open fluidics' approach exchanges liquids and reagents in three dimensions, allowing rapid and efficient distribution of liquids over large volumes. With our innovative technique, we've mastered the art of effective use and rapid exchange of reagents within the 3-D matrix. This innovation is a critical element that makes 3-D Sequencing possible. 👉 Learn more about our technology on our website: https://lnkd.in/dB-X3gbp #3Dsequencing
