We are proud to share another significant milestone in our NewMax build! The Stena Connecta has now been successfully launched into the water. The shipyard will now continue with the interior installation of the vessel. Together, the Stena Futura and Stena Connecta will serve our Belfast – Heysham route on the Irish Sea, boosting freight capacity by 40%, to meet the growing customer demand between Northern Ireland and Great Britain. Both vessels are designed to operate on methanol fuel and will play a key part in Stena Line’s sustainability journey. Enhanced with built in technologies, these vessels will utilise battery propulsion and shore power, when they become available. Stena Connecta will also be equipped with rotor sails, used to harness wind power and provide auxiliary propulsion, resulting in reduced fuel consumption and emissions. We eagerly anticipate the arrival of Stena Connecta into our Irish sea fleet in early 2026.

Celebrating 1 year of the Dublin – Liverpool route 🚢 Tomorrow on 15 February, we are celebrating the one-year anniversary of the Dublin – Liverpool route. The addition of the new route has boosted our freight volumes resulting in a record year for our Irish Sea operations in 2024. Beginning initially with Stena Horizon, our teams quickly secured a freight only vessel, Bore Song, to operate on the route providing an additional 2500 lane meters to the market. The addition of the service marked our seventh route in the Irish Sea region offering customers six departures in each direction per week. We’re thrilled to be celebrating a successful first year Dublin – Liverpool and we have exciting plans in the pipeline for the future of the corridor.

We are pleased to announce that our ferry services between Holyhead – Dublin have resumed services this morning, following the reopening of the ferry berth at Holyhead Port. From today, 16 January, we will operate our normal sailing schedule of four sailings from Holyhead to Dublin with a revised timetable. We’d like to extend our gratitude to all our teams across our network for their flexibility during this disruption and we look forward to resuming normal operations once again.

Due to the closure of the ferry berths at Holyhead port, we have cancelled all sailings between Dublin and Holyhead until 15 January at the earliest. We understand the inconvenience this may cause our customers and we are therefore working diligently to provide the following alternative solutions. Dublin to Heysham: Temporary route for freight. Dublin to Fishguard: Temporary route for both freight and passengers. Dublin to Birkenhead: Extra crossings now available for car travel (for those with cancelled Dublin-Holyhead bookings) and freight.
