EXPLORING GASIFICATION ADVANCEMENTS WITH SHANGHAI JIAOTONG UNIVERSITY Johan Mattson, our CTO, visited Dr. Liu Jianguo from the Department of Power and Energy Engineering at Shanghai Jiaotong University in September to discuss his research on the optimization of gasification processes and their potential application to the Stirlingversal engine module. Dr. Liu and his team have been engaged in energy research and application development for many years. Since 2012, they have focused on biomass gasification technology and power generation system optimization. They’ve made significant progress and secured numerous patents in areas such as gasification tar removal technology and the optimization of biomass gasification power generation. Dr. Liu’s biomass gasification research has already been successfully implemented. His gasifier product has completed 9,000 hours of testing with stable operation, producing no secondary pollution and requiring no additives. It is currently the most environmentally friendly and efficient gasifier of biomass in China.

STIRLING ENGINES: MECHANISM AND APPLICATIONS FOR GREEN ENERGY PRODUCTION Stirling engines operate on the principle of cyclic compression and expansion of a working fluid (usually helium or hydrogen) within a sealed system. This cycle involves heating the gas to cause expansion, which drives a piston, followed by cooling the gas to contract it, driving the piston back. The engine’s external heat source and cooling system enable continuous mechanical work. Stirling engines are versatile in utilizing various heat sources, making them ideal for green energy production. They can harness waste heat from hot flue gases emitted by industrial processes, converting otherwise wasted thermal energy into electricity. Additionally, Stirling engines can utilize biomass as a heat source, where organic materials are combusted to generate the necessary heat. This capability allows for the efficient conversion of renewable resources into clean energy. By using these diverse heat sources, Stirling engines contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and promoting sustainable energy. Their efficiency, quiet operation, and adaptability to different heat sources make them suitable for various applications, including industrial, residential, and remote power generation, supporting the transition to a greener energy landscape. TAKING FURTHER STEPS ON NETWORKING IN EUROPE.   Last week our CTO Johan Mattson (second from the right in the photo) joined Henrik Selstam to attend meetings on a Waste to Energy (WTE) site in Slovakia. Henrik Selstam is a part owner of the WTE site and has recently been nominated to become a Board member of Stirlingversal. Several European parties attended the meeting representing Operators, Project Developers, and Technology Providers. The meetings confirmed the interest in our solutions based on Stirling engine technology. It can add value to existing WTE systems and has great potential for offering new solutions on smaller distributed systems, the market segment we are focusing on. Henrik and his team's expertise in gasification and pyrolysis with long practical experience of various applications with different waste and fuel types, will be very useful for Stirlingversal in moving forward with new applications. With the parties attending the meeting in Slovakia, there is a great potential for different kinds of partnership arrangements and customers to support Stirlingversal in Europe.

Our Sales Director for China, Mr. Henderson Qian (pictured second left), played a major role in organizing climate-focused discussions at the recent Shanghai Climate Week. From event planning to networking with potential customers and government representatives, Henderson's efforts were instrumental in expanding Stirlingversal's presence in the Chinese market. The event garnered significant attention, with coverage by top Chinese media outlets like "Pengpai" and "Xinhua News Agency." Our participation has opened doors to valuable connections in the Chinese renewable energy sector.

Stirlingversal was invited to participate in the Shanghai Climate Week forum alongside leaders from the Shanghai Government and prominent state-owned and private companies. The forum brought together nearly a hundred industry experts, researchers, and business guests to discuss circular economic development and corporate social responsibility. Our CEO, Johan Arrhenius, presented the Stirling engine module technology and its environmental benefits to the forum. 

The Stirling Hot Flue engine module, developed in Sweden, has arrived at our manufacturing site in Kunshan, China according to plan. Martin Huang, our Quality Controller, is conducting final quality inspections, and after that, the engine module will be shipped to our partner HaiQi for integration with their biomass gasification furnace application. This marks an exciting step for Stirlingversal!
