Mountain lion as social justice and environmental hero? In Los Angeles, a lonely mountain lion inspired the community to contribute to building the world's largest wildlife crossing. In the US, up to two million big animals die on US roads, according to official records from the Federal Highway Administration. But this is likely underreported. Nevertheless, “No matter what political affiliation you are, where you live, it doesn’t matter. Most people love wildlife and don’t like seeing it get hit.” Wildlife crossings solve an environmental and economic problem and create construction jobs.
