Miltiadis Triantafyllou is an inspirational example of a doctor-turned-entrepreneur who has taken solving inefficiencies in clinical processes into his own hands. He is a cardiologist in Sweden, but besides that, he is running an AI-based startup XSilico Ai that automatically annotates raw text of medical records with structured clinical codes, automatically summarizes complex journal notes, extracts vital information, and even crafts comprehensive discharge summaries. Our co-founders Anna Lokrantz and Niclas Hertzberg were giving a talk today about Large Language Models in Healthcare on the workshop organized from R&D department at Region Halland! The topic is on fire right now and we are very proud to be part of the landscape and humble enough to understand the complexities that already exist but also the ones emerging daily! We are thankful for the opportunities given to us during our time at Region Halland and we are happy to give back to the community!

In my professional career as a physician I oftentimes was consulted in difficult cases in order to provide a new view or even a second opinion. What I did then was to painstakingly go through every medical note in a patient's journal in order to find important bits of information that would solve the problem. What I have found is that in the Swedish Healthcare system the information is already there hidden deep inside medical notes and different healthcare providers but it is not readily available and there is no way to access it except for the manual old fashioned way. At XSilico Ai we want to provide this level of attention and thoroughness but in a comprehensive way for every single patient to every single medical doctor, within a few seconds. The medical professionals need better tools to work more with the things they are trained for, the patients and the planning of care. We don't want to spend time to click through incomprehensible programs in order to find simple things. We have started with summarization of medical information in Swedish and in English and we are currently testing our algorithms using cutting edge technology.
