🔌Transforming #WasteHeat into Opportunity 🔄 What can be done with excess heat from machines or thermodynamic processes? The answer is: #reuse it. With the right technology, here are some innovative solutions in action: · Odense, Denmark: a globally advanced #DataCenter recovers 100,000 MWh of energy annually, heating around 7,000 homes. · Helsingborg, Sweden: Since 1974, the Kemira #ChemicalPlant has cut carbon emissions by 171,000 tons per year by utilizing waste heat. · Hamburg, Germany: Aurubis #CopperPlant recovered waste heat can potentially reduce CO2 emissions by 140,000 tons annually. There are many examples highlighting how repurposing waste heat can drive #sustainability. Stanisław Zachara and Anna Hall share in the video how we can adopt these best practices at scale and pioneer positive change together.

🌱 Transforming the future of sustainable agriculture! 🌿In Cambridgeshire, UK, a groundbreaking 20-hectare greenhouse heated by industrial #HeatPumps and #CHP finished in 2022. The ideal growing environment will be created by using heat pumps to utilise water from both existing and proposed local reservoirs. A CHP plant will provide the electricity to power the heat pumps, while CO2 emissions from the CHPs will be transferred back to the glasshouses to accelerate the growth of the plants. 14 units Alfa Laval semi-welded plate heat exchangers ensure efficient and eco-friendly heating, helping the project qualify for the UK Renewable Heat Incentive (#RHI) scheme. We're proud to partner with IESenergy A/S on the project of AGR Renewables. Read more details of the project: https://lnkd.in/d8tz4idU #Sustainability #RenewableEnergy #GreenTech

Better quality industrial fluid extends equipment lifetime and levels of productivity and reduces costs. Disc-stack separation is a proven, sustainable technology to treat contaminated industrial fluids by removing tramp oil, fine metal cuttings, dirt, and sludge. The three-phase separation efficiently handles all fine particles down to 2 micron and removes virtually all the contaminating oil but none of the additives, in a one continuous operation. This contributes to a healthier working environment by reducing bacterial growth. Other results are reduced tool wear, fewer rejects, and an overall improvement in quality. Watch the video to learn how investing in an Alfa Laval disc-stack centrifuge for coolant cleaning have benefitted Atlas Copco #sustainablesolution #coolantcleaning #washwaterreuse #discstackseparation

💡 ❓ Did you know that heating and cooling account for about 50% of the final energy consumption worldwide? This is far more than conumption of electricity (20%) and transport (30%), according to the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA). Heating and cooling also create more than 40% of energy-related carbon emissions, the Agency says. Meet Julien Gennetier, President Gasketed Plate Heat Exchangers, Alfa Laval in this interview with the Energy Efficiency Movement, sharing insights on this important topic. “We have identified the potential to save up to 700 million tons of CO2 a year, up to 2025, and over 1 billion per year all the way to 2030,” Gennetier says. 🌟 A leading Italian manufacturer of ceramic tiles approached us with a request for a heat exchanger capable of preheating a ceramic slurry using recovered heat. None of the previously tested heat exchangers had been able to handle the slurry without clogging, but an Alfa Laval spiral heat exchanger stood the test. The result was a 5 GWh cut in yearly energy consumption per plant and a corresponding 2500 tonnes reduction in CO2 emissions!

In 2050, recycled carbon will account for more than 50 % of the carbon molecules embedded in chemicals and materials. Technologies that enable advanced recycling of a wide range of materials will thus play a crucial role in defossilization. Read more about how we at Alfa Laval envision the future circular landscape: https://lnkd.in/dcnHMTKn
Witnessing State of the art Chemical recycling plants from Groningen to Germany show casing their commitment to #circular Carbon. If you take in consideration that 56 percent of the total Chemicals produced today are utilized by other industries, advanced recycling technologies will not only have a #positive impact in #defossilizing the Chemical industry but consistently to a broader range of industries . The circular journey doesnt stop here.
