We are happy to share that the EU funded programme Capacity for Risk Management of Earthquakes and Health Emergencies IPA CARE has conducted kick off meetings in Kosovo*, Montenegro and Serbia. During the sessions, the planning of the action plans were discussed with the stakeholders and partners.   The overall approach will be National capacity development, Regional cooperation and integration, Cross cutting issues fully integrated in all work, and Monitoring and evaluation. The main focus was for IPA CARE Team Leader Peter Glerum to explain the programme and how the implementation will take place over the coming 4 years. "We need to move beyond provision of aid to cooperation that is built on mutual learning between countries. Each country has experiences we can learn from". IPA CARE Team Leader Peter Glerum was one of the panelists during the #cpforum2024 session ”Regional Cooperation as Catalyst for Trust-Building and Improved Collaboration among the EU and its Neighbours” together with representatives from Civil Protection Agencies from Italy, Ukraine, Lebanon and Palestine. Highlights from Peter's approach were that the Civil protection sector, because of its apolitical nature, provides an opportunity to surpass conflicts between countries and working together to find solidarity in addressing disasters. He also addressed that regional programmes, such as IPA CARE, provide an opportunity to connect people and that #cooperation between countries should be institutionalised. #eucivilprotection #ipacare
