The journey of a thousand miles begins I feel that tingling sense of fear All my life I've been safe in content Preventing me from leaving here I saw a world full of hopes and dreams Never surpassed my mere desires A rite of passage seems required of me Before my one chance expires Until you ride into the unknown The past won't ever fully show What you've been devoid of I never thought I'd take this turn I never gained the strength to learn To not give in (To let go) To let go of this ordeal I feel discomfort rising No way of compromising Now once for all I'll stand up for myself Just one more brief excursion This time with no diversion No holding back, no chains I embrace my fears So many years have passed now A candle forgotten in a dream A vision far gone and burnt to ashes Spread to ignite again Growing Until you ride into the unknown The past won't ever fully show What you've been devoid of I never thought I'd take this turn I never gained the strength to learn To not give in To survive Until I entered the great unknown The past had never fully showed What I'd been devoid of What was stripped away from me And finally I'm taking this turn I finally found the strength to learn To not give in to the fear no more My journey has now begun

Ghost Veil 05:55
Alone, I'm lost inside this fog A hazy kind of maze Every step bringing me further in Reach, it reaches for my head Blurring my thoughts and mind Any sense of direction long lost When did I lose my way? Years lost in this dearth of hope Tear the sun out of the sky And place it here with me So I can finally find my Way out of this misery Lay to rest the ghost of my Frustration, angst and doubts Help me find my focus Show me a way out of here My past and my future Pass me like ghosts Drifting and shifting I can't get a hold I've been stuck in this place too long Indecision plaguing me I just want to get out I just want to be free Of this feeling of apathy Maybe I should just run away Any path I take will do And as long as I run And as long as I move I will find my way through Tear the sun out of the sky And place it here with me So I can finally find my Way out of this misery Lay to rest the ghost of my Frustration, angst and doubts Help me find my focus Show me a way out of here

V23 06:11
Navigate to far-off lands A wind of change guides me To sail across uncharted waters Plowing waves to find my place No current strong enough That could bring me to a halt I face the skyline (Face the sky) Full of clouds that paints it grey Soon the colours of tomorrow (Tomorrow) Will brush them all away With yesteryears behind me (Yesteryears) Another day will come The wind is in my favour (Twentythree) As the sun is smiling back at me I always knew What it meant to me Voyage twentythree Nothing will be the same I always knew That it's meant to be Us against the sea There was no doubt in me I always knew You mean the world to me I always knew There was no doubt in me (In voyage twentythree) I face the skyline (Face the sky) Without clouds to paint it grey Now the colours of tomorrow (Tomorrow) Has brushed them all away With yesteryears behind me (Yesteryears) Another day will come The wind is in my favour (Twentythree) As the sun is smiling back now And it means the world to me

Underwater 07:47
And suddenly a hero falls His story and legacy, lost and forgotten Leaving nothing but the physical remains Of a damaged vessel of anger Trapped, as his journey ends alone There was a time I thought I knew That you would help guide me through But I see this fucking game you play This dark, vicious masquerade It's time to retaliate No more will I allow to sink in darkness Running in an endless cycle This common blood we share It makes me sink into the floor beneath me Sinking in a sea of sin A ghost from the past Will quietly remain As it flows through my veins A price I am forced and willing to pay The greatest liberty now beckons me It's time to retaliate No more will I allow to sink in darkness Running in an endless cycle This common blood we share It made me sink into the floor beneath me Drowning in a sea of sin Sinking in a sea of sin Reach for my hand

Mind Flayer 05:20
Utterings with clear intent to obscure reality Like fog to blur my sight And make me second-guess myself A constant presence I wish I could escape Lingering on the brink of death Standing on a scale I fear to tip the balance Make a choice Is there right or wrong at all? Inaction breeds insecurity A never ending cycle The defense has been torn down Pallid eyes that stare and pierce Right through the veil A reflection, self-examination As if hope is something real Brought to make you keel As you have to kneel before your doubt Have I led myself astray With the thoughts that I obey? Is my fate to fade away? Standing on a scale I fear to tip the balance Make a choice Memories remind nothing is gone Inaction breeds insecurity A never ending cycle Can I reclaim what's been lost?

[I. Exodus] [00:00-02:48] (Instrumental) [II. Arrival] [02:48-07:14] Landing on this barren ground Dust covered craft devoid of sound Embarking lands of emptiness Soon to be a place we call our home The bitter sense of fear made me strong Now I'm far away (You are far away now) I am far away Far away from what I used to know Chosen to change my life Leave all behind and start anew Exploring this brand new world Leaping steps into the unknown Now we're here to tread the path (The path to lead us on) Mountain laden sights conceal the horizon (The sunset's turning dark) These dusty trails will bring us home (Prefabricated domes) Though I know it will be tough I'll make sure to soldier on [III. Architects of New Horizons] [07:14-11:46] Our time has come to initiate The protocols of which we must obey Building phase begins The risk is high; a lot at stake Working all day and night Perseverance down Daily dose of challenges Keeps our judgement alive We're building it all Our nexus tall A place to belong Each night I see the starry sky In which my old home resides Each day that pass I wonder why We failed to realize the fall of humankind Brought here to pave the new ways I'm now here to stay I better make the best of it The fate of Earth is looking bleak So frail and obsolete Now who's to say that we won't Repeat in doing the same again? Each night I see the starry sky In which my old home resides Each day that pass I wonder why We failed to realize the fall of humankind [IV. Lament in Silence] [11:46-15:49] We left behind Our home, the rest of humankind A remnant now of nothing less Than a tale of sorrow and greed Of love and betrayal We watched our greatest gift Turn to dust and relics Of a dream now gone by Please, forgive us all We failed to see The blackest skies Is where their sole light now resides Our home once green and full of desires Now reduced to a cradle in pieces Lives in deep distress And all we're meant to be Washed away as ancient poetry Of a time gone by Please, forgive us for Deserting you Chosen to change our lives Left them behind, left in the ashes, fading Now they are kept within our minds Memories stained with our blood-filled history [V. Zero Signal] [15:49-21:00] Dark clouds tumbling in There's ash in the rain Transmission's going weaker The tide's rising higher Submerging their cities with ease Echoed sirens die out And all we can do Is to witness as it unfolds We can't look away We are all to blame for this terror The panic evolves, collapse imminent Broadcasted scenes uncanny Connection disrupted Their power cut off - we lost contact Afraid that was the end We're lost for words As our screens bring us static noise Our halls went silent And so did their screams We're shedding tears For the hope to find peace inside They might be gone (We might be gone) But they're all safe within our minds (But we're all safe within your minds) [VI. Rays of Light] [21:00-25:40] Humankind We will do our best to honour all of you As the future's in our hands No one said it would be easy We'll make sure to never give up Our tribute to you Keepers of hope Guardians of fate With unwavering resolve We're conquering this weight Breaching the skies Destined to prevail As we're bound to this mission Our legacy remains Glowing light In this once Black Sky All the stars align now They cast rays of light To guide me Glowing light In this once Black Sky All the stars align now They cast rays of light To guide me home Pioneering My fears disappearing Persevering My heart found its meaning now

about

This album in many ways marks a new beginning for the band. Throughout our first 10 years, we had gone through some challenging times due to the band not always being located in the same city or even the same country. Since then however, the band has come together with all members now back living in Stockholm, Sweden for the first time in a long time. This change alongside the addition of our new singer Markus Tälth has provided the band with a new sense of unity and a new spark of excitement and imagination.

‘Of Hope & Ordeals’ spins further on this topic of hardships and new found hope. It does so through rides into the unknown, exploring the feelings of being lost, sailing across uncharted waters, retaliating, reflecting and embarking on voyages into distant worlds. Within these songs, you’ll find a series of very personal lyrics, themes and moods that are somewhat revisited as they cultivate into the grand finale, the continuation and third installment of the Black Sky saga.

The aim with this album was to paint with many colors and to provide a wide collection of emotions, vibes and exciting musical journeys through hopes and ordeals.
