Recently, in the Accuracy Interviews Series, our partner Laura Cózar interviewed NURIA RODRIGUEZ PEINADO, director of Environment and Social Responsibility at Naturgy, one of Spain's leading energy companies. Naturgy maintains a strong commitment to the energy transition and #decarbonisation. 🔈 "We are very optimistic about the future of #biogases,” says Nuria, “because it's clear that Spain has enormous potential to generate them. They have to be a vital vector for #decarbonisation." 🌍 We invite you to explore Naturgy’s sustainability plan to 2025, the main challenges and obstacles they face in its implementation, notable #renewable generation investments within the company's strategic commitments, their view on the future of biogases, and many other aspects of the crucial #ESG topic in the world of business. ⬇️

🌍 Last week, over 20 experts gathered at Accuracy’s Paris office for the #SustainableFinance Summit. Here are some key takeaways: - $5 trillion: this is the global financing required annually to mitigate climate change until 2030. For perspective, global GDP in 2022 was slightly over $100 trillion. - The integration of #ESG issues is evolving from a tick-box exercise into a critical business imperative that drives long-term value. - Blended finance is emerging as a game-changer: by combining public and private capital, blended finance reduces investment risks and mobilises funds for projects that might otherwise struggle to attract private investment. - Timing is everything: later is too late. As we concluded during the summit, “There is no sustainability without profitability, but no business can thrive in an unsustainable world.” It’s time to act—better, faster and stronger. Thank you to our panelists and our co-organiser, Global Ethical Finance Initiative (GEFI), for pushing the boundaries on these critical discussions. Take a look at this recap video featuring our partner Sophie Chassat, GEFI’s Global Steering Group member David Pitt-Watson, and our director Julie Malzac, as they summarise the event. ⬇️ #ClimateAction #ParisSummit Video by Fabien Rousselet

🎙️ Last week, as part of the third edition of the Solidarity Arbitration and Mediation Days (SAMD), organised by the Court of Arbitration at the PCC in Warsaw, our director Anastasia Pojoga Morali participated in a panel discussion on “Damages in Infrastructure, Construction, and Energy Disputes: When 2 Plus 2 is Not Always 4.” Commenting on the topic, Anastasia shared: “Experts may reach different results when asked the same question. This could stem from varying instructions or factual information relied upon, different valuation approaches, eventual considerations of contractual or economic limitations, as well as differing positions on the level of required demonstration and support.” The aim of SAMD is to express the ongoing #solidarity of the international #arbitration and #mediation community with those affected by the war in Ukraine. The conference was organised on a non-profit basis, with all proceeds directed to the SAMD Scholarship Fund, which provides scholarships to Ukrainian law students and young professionals.

🌍 In the context of an #insurance market with lower capacity and the emergence of new risks, an increasing number of French and European companies are turning to alternative insurance solutions, such as #captives. These solutions allow businesses to self-finance certain risks, pool them together, and gain a new strategic lever to manage specific risks, all while optimising their insurance costs. Encouraged by recent regulatory relaxations, captive insurance and reinsurance companies offer numerous advantages. They are also gaining popularity as they are accessible to all sectors and companies of various sizes. What are the benefits and limitations of captives and how can they be best utilised? Our director Alix Dupuy and senior associate Germain Gramaize delved into this topic in the 11th edition of #AccuracyTalksStraight. Read more here 👉 https://lnkd.in/ezctzYVk

💬 Last week, as part of the GCR Live: Global Merger Control 2024 event that Accuracy was proud to sponsor, our partner Pascale Déchamps moderated a panel exploring whether remedies addressing #competition concerns are assessed in the same way across jurisdictions for international deals. It was a rich discussion with other experts in the field, Adina Claici, Calvin S. Goldman, K.C., and Falk Schöning. For Pascale: "Competition concerns may be raised differently across jurisdictions, inducing uncertainty for the parties. Remedy design adds a layer of complexity since competition authorities may also consider them differently. Yet, with the right preparation and knowledge of the relevant standards, complex international deals can usually get through with manageable risk". Global Competition Review

🌍 Europe is the focus of this edition of the #EconomicBrief. The European elections are over, Ursula van der Leyen has been reappointed as head of the Commission, and France has sent a new representative to Brussels. Despite some structural difficulties, the Old Continent is still holding its ground, even if comparisons with the giants of China and the USA, for example in terms of productivity or innovation financing, may appear less than flattering. Has the time come to change tack, as symbolised by the Draghi report? Will the EU be able to capitalise on its strengths and keep control of its destiny? Our senior economic adviser Hervé Goulletquer answers these questions and more ➡️ https://lnkd.in/ersPRB_3
