🍃 Raising Awareness and Engagement from the Ground Up Since the beginning of the year, our ESG team has been proactively addressing waste management through the "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle" initiative. Aiming to increase awareness and ownership, the ESG team and facilities management team in our Singapore TPB2 office engaged in a discussion with over 60% of our colleagues on how we can make our offices more environmentally friendly. One of the main feedback was having a more efficient waste management system, which resulted in the facilities management team to switch from an individual waste disposal system to a centralised waste disposal system. The change in system allowed for: 🗑️ Improved waste segregation through clearly labelled bins 📊 Better monitoring and Management ♻️ More mindful disposal habits among employees This initiative—along with annual refresher courses on environmental practices—has significantly raised awareness among employees and influenced their habits, promoting sustainable waste management practices both at work and in their personal lives. As part of the course on "Creating a Business Friendly Regulatory Environment for Economic Growth" under the Singapore Cooperation Programme, we had the honour of hosting a group of foreign delegates from 25 countries, at our global headquarters in Singapore together with IPOS International. We had the special opportunity to introduce not just ASMPT, a global high-tech company but also the intricacies and dynamics of the semiconductor and manufacturing industry to them. Delegates peppered us with questions about how we protected our intellectual property, managed and encouraged innovation (the lifeblood of any strong technology company), and the different kinds of markets we served. We also took them on a short tour of our Innovation Centre, where we showcased our wide portfolio of semiconductor, surface-mount technology and software solutions. 💹 ASMPT announced its 3rd Quarter 2024 results (ended 30 Sep 2024), delivering Q3 revenue at the high end of guidance, with our Advanced Packaging (#AP) solutions continuing to exhibit strong order momentum. Recovery in the overall semiconductor industry continued to be rather uneven, with non-AI related cyclical semiconductor demand e.g. consumer, computer & communication end-markets, recovering slower than anticipated, and automotive and industrial end-markets remained sluggish. While SEMI mainstream bookings grew QoQ, order flow remained sporadic. In SMT, its overall market continued to experience softness while still maintaining its leading market position this year.   At the other end, high growth from generative AI and High-Performance Computing (HPC) applications continued to drive momentum across our AP solutions, which are the industry’s most comprehensive.  Within AP, highest revenue contribution came from our Thermo-Compression Bonding (#TCB) solutions. Here, chip-to-wafer (C2W) applications order momentum continued from our leading IDM customer, and we also commenced high volume shipments of TCB tools for chip-to-substrate (C2S) applications to the OSAT customer of our leading foundry customer. In High Bandwidth Memory (#HBM), there was a significant development: in addition to TCB orders from several HBM players, we received a bulk TCB order in October from a leading HBM player that will cater to their HBM3e 12H demand ramp, with tool shipments in coming quarters. Our unique TCB capabilities enable seamless upgrades to fluxless applications for 12H and beyond and provide fungibility to handle different packaging processes (NCF, MUF flux / fluxless). Our #Photonics momentum was in line with robust demand for 800G optical transceivers for data centres, while our Silicon Photonics (#SiPh) solutions with best-in-class placement accuracy also won orders for high-end optical communication related applications In the near term, we are confident about our AP prospects. ⚙️📍 Fully Automatic Pin Placement during the Placement Process PCBs must be supported during assembly to prevent deflection or vibration. Placing the support pins is still often done by hand – a time-consuming and error-prone process that has to be carried out directly on the machine. Unnecessary production interruptions and rejects due to incorrectly placed pins, contamination and component collisions are often the results. The SIPLACE Smart Pin Support, which can be easily retrofitted to the placement head of placement machines in the SIPLACE series, makes things quicker and safer. 📊♻️ Professional Scope 3 CO2 emission calculation Managing transport emissions can be a complex task for any organisation, often complicated by data collection issues and lack of accuracy. At ASMPT SMT Solutions, our global Logistics Team has been working hard to find a sustainable and efficient solution for calculating our transport emissions. Today, we partner with the innovative startup GRYN Network to streamline this process. GRYN Network collects monthly emissions data from our transport service providers (supplier to factory, factory to factory, factory to customer) and makes it available on their user-friendly online platform.  This collaboration makes it really easy to collect reliable data and produce trustworthy reports. 🤝 Fostering Collaboration and Camaraderie Last Friday, ASMPT in Singapore - where we are globally headquartered - held its first-ever organisation-wide team building event, bringing together over 800 employees from across Corporate, SEMI and SMT groups for a time of fun and collaboration at Singapore’s Sentosa resort island. Themed ‘UniTeam’, the event featured an ‘Amazing Race’ inspired puzzles and obstacles. It was also a great opportunity for employees to make new friends as the teams comprised of employees from the various different departments. The Amazing Race tasks sought to bring out elements of Collaboration, Consultation and Communication among team members, not to mention many chances to bond as they let their hair down. "Because we tend to work within our own teams day to day, the opportunity to make new friends was really appreciated. I got to learn about some of our new technologies, how some of my colleagues were adjusting to life in Singapore, and even the talented 'out of the box' thinking from some of the younger Gen Z team members!" shared Ee-Guan (Guan) Lim (林诒源), Director for Corporate Communications.
