What does it take to inspect an underwater rock dump at a land reclamation site? 🪨 🌊 Traditionally, this would take divers two days of hard, intensive work. But what if we told you that it’s now possible in <90 minutes? 🤯 Enter A.IKANBILIS, our hovering autonomous underwater vehicle (#HAUV). It was deployed to perform a full-coverage sonar inspection of >2000 m² rock dump at a Singaporean land reclamation site. The result? A real-time, geo-referenced 2D sonar mosaic, pinpointing voids that could affect backfilling works. What excites us most isn’t just the speed – it’s the precision. It is not true that incumbents always do better. Defense contracts do not always need to go only to established and large defense prime contractors, if the risks can be managed properly. Qualifying alternative suppliers early is one such risk mitigation strategy. Last week, we supported Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) in #FEREX2024, attempting to showcase the responsiveness and efficiency of our Hovering Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (HAUVs) and software system. In an #emergency, efficiency and responsiveness are of the utmost importance. Unlike conventional underwater robots, our HAUV- A.IKANBILIS, would be able to detect and move towards the point of impact rapidly. Along with our SAMBAL Portal, the portal’s intelligence can identify and send the most important information back to shore for quick decisions to be made. #MaritimeSG #SafetyAtSea #SafetyAtSeaWeek

How does Hovering AUV A.IKANBILIS create 2D #sonar maps of underwater assets? 🗺️ Our recent dry dock project showcased our AUV's remarkable capability, producing accurate maps cross-verified in real-time via camera views on Sambal User Interface. 🔊 We adjusted the range of our forward-looking sonar to capture various components of the dry dock with varying degrees of precision. Shorter ranges captured details of the dock's monopile and cathodic protection system while long ranges mapped three steep steps surrounding the dock's perimeter. Curious to learn more?
