Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Singapore Marks 40th Annual General Meeting The recent conclusion of the 40th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Singapore, held on May 23rd, 2024, at the esteemed The American Club Singapore, was a momentous occasion for the Chamber and its members. Under the leadership of Randall P. (Randy) Quinn, President of the Chamber, and DORYS FIERRO, serving as Executive Director, the event exemplified the chamber's dedication to fostering collaboration, advancement, and growth within the Canadian business community in Singapore. Randy skillfully led the proceedings, presenting key updates, reflecting on past achievements, and guiding on the future direction of the Chamber. His leadership was instrumental in ensuring that the AGM served as a platform for both reviewing strategic planning from the past year and charting the course for the upcoming year. One of the highlights of the AGM was the warm welcome extended to Caroline Berube, the incoming President of the Chamber. Caroline, Managing Partner at HJM Asia Law, brings a wealth of experience, having served as past president, Chair for the 2023-2024 term, and a member of the CanCham Executive Committee for the past 13 years. Her extensive experience and forward-looking vision will undoubtedly bring new perspectives and opportunities for the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Singapore and its members. Additionally, the AGM introduced the new Executive Committee, comprising dedicated individuals who will play pivotal roles in guiding the Chamber forward. Kamran Azim, CFA from RBC will continue as Vice President, and Gustavo Galvis from Export Development Canada | Exportation et développement Canada will serve as Secretary. Amira Berrada from IFC - International Finance Corporation steps into the position of Treasurer, ensuring the financial health and stability of the Chamber. The Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Singapore held the return of its behind closed doors luncheon event with the Haut-commissariat du Canada à Singapour | High Commission of Canada in Singapore on October 15th, 2024 at 1880 Singapore, a CanCham member, having last held this bi-annual event in May 2019. This exclusive gathering held for corporate members and selected others allowed the sharing of ideas, plans and questions under Chatham House Rules with both His Excellency Jean-Dominique Ieraci, High Commissioner of Canada to Singapore and Christine Constantin, Senior Trade Commissioner of the High Commission of Canada in Singapore. Our President Caroline Berube did the opening remarks and followed by remarks from His Excellency Jean-Dominique Ieraci, High Commissioner of Canada to Singapore and Christine Constantin, Senior Trade Commissioner of the High Commission of Canada in Singapore. This was followed by a 2-hour discussion amongst our guests in which views were exchanged on a number of topics between our CanCham members / guests and the High Commission of Canada in Singapore. CanCham was pleased to by invited by the Haut-commissariat du Canada à Singapour | High Commission of Canada in Singapore to the Medical Fair 2024 networking reception with around 60 guests from the Canadian, Singapore, Asia and other medical business community on September 10th, 2024 at Asia Square Tower 2 at Marina View at KPMG office. The event started with opening remarks from Andrew Threlfall, Trade Commissioner of the High Commission of Canada in Singapore followed by President of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Singapore , Caroline Berube who provided an overview of our Chamber to guests as well as to explain the 5-pillars of Canada in Singapore: the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Singapore, The High Commission of Canada in Singapore, Canadian Alumni Network Singapore (CANsg), Canadian Association of Singapore and Canadian International School in Singapore. This was followed by a presentation from KPMG on the topic of APAC Med Thought Leadership. The event was an excellent opportunity for guests to interact and make new connections in the medical industry covering medical equipment, research, technology and services sectors.
