To drive climate action, we’re committed to fostering sustained partnerships through stakeholder engagement initiatives. For our office tenants, we’ve rolled out our City Green Tenant Bonus programme – a first-of-its-kind decarbonisation initiative at Republic Plaza. Apart from rewarding qualifying tenants who achieve the energy reduction with incentives, we support them with resource support in their sustainability journey. Over the weekend, a group of CDL runners led by our Group Chief Operating Officer Mr Kwek Eik Sheng, pushed through the miles and crossed the finishing line at the Singtel-Singapore Cancer Society Race Against Cancer 2024 (RAC 2024). Organised by the Singapore Cancer Society since 2009, RAC is an annual fundraising event that aims to raise funds for cancer treatment subsidies, welfare assistance, related research, and cancer support group initiatives. Through this race, CDL not only supported a meaningful cause but also forged deeper connections through this shared experience reinforcing the values of collaboration and unity amongst colleagues. Positive impact, climate action and changemakers were but some of the buzzwords at the 2024 Sustainability Impact Awards last evening. Graced by President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, we are honoured to be amongst the 11 corporates and individuals recognised for notable contributions towards sustainability. We clinched the Impact Enterprise of the Year award under the large enterprise category for our capacity-building and thought leadership in climate action. Located at our City Square Mall, the Singapore Sustainability Academy, which we developed in partnership with the Sustainable Energy Association of Singapore (SEAS), has hosted more than 1,000 advocacy events and reached out to 34,500 in-person visitors since it opened in 2017. In addition, our Chief Sustainability Officer Ms Esther An was named Impact Leader of the Year for being a pioneer in the sustainability arena. In his acceptance speech, CDL’s Group CEO Mr Sherman Kwek noted that although CDL’s sustainability journey started some 30 years ago, we faced numerous struggles and pushbacks initially when we tried to push the green agenda within our value chain. This morning, Hong Leong Group and CDL’s Executive Chairman, Mr Kwek Leng Beng launched the Chinese edition of his biography, 《在商言商：郭令明》. Attended by 150 guests, the private event was held at Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore and graced by Deputy Prime Minister, Mr Heng Swee Keat. Mr Kwek said: “After the launch of the English edition of my biography, it was important that we publish a Chinese edition to reach out to the Chinese-speaking community in Singapore and overseas, as this holds special significance for me. This book is a written testament of my experiences and the lessons I’ve learnt over the years that have guided my business thinking and shaped my philosophy.” Dive into six decades of breakthroughs across multiple sectors such as real estate, hospitality and finance, through Mr Kwek's eyes and valuable experiences.
