  • As Singapore celebrates World Water Day today, CDL reaffirms our commitment to water conservation and responsible management across our operations. Since 2007, we have been actively tracking and improving water efficiency at our construction sites, managed buildings, and corporate office. Key initiatives include the installation of water-efficient fittings, such as sensor taps and automatic flush systems, as well as rainwater harvesting in selected projects. At our Millennium Hotels and Resorts, showerheads, faucets, and basin taps are fitted with low-flow fixtures, while all hotel rooms feature low-volume flush systems to minimise water usage. To reduce reliance on potable water, we incorporate NEWater into our operations, including in our hotels, wherever feasible. Beyond conservation, we take proactive steps to safeguard Singapore’s waterways by ensuring that all construction sites implement Earth Control Measures (ECM) to prevent silty discharge. To further enhance water quality, we deploy ultrafiltration technology to treat silt water before they get discharged. Our commitment to responsible water management has been recognised with a CDP ‘A’ List for Water Security (2024) for the sixth consecutive year, alongside PUB, Singapore's National Water Agency inaugural Singapore Watermark Award conferred in 2007 for our outstanding contributions to Singapore’s water cause. As of 2024, all our managed buildings have also been certified as ‘Water-Efficient Buildings’ by PUB, underscoring our strong performance in water conservation. Water is a precious resource, and every effort makes a difference. By continuing to advance responsible water practices, we strive to make every drop counts! #CityDevelopments #SingaporeWorldWaterDay #Water #EveryDropCounts #WaterManagement #CDLSustainability

  • #Didyouknow Irwell Hill Residences features one of Singapore’s most iconic tree species – the majestic Samanea Saman, commonly known as the raintree! These natural landmarks, with their distinctive umbrella-shaped canopies, can reach heights of up to 30 metres and provide generous shade – a welcome respite from Singapore’s tropical heat. When developing the site, we discovered four 30-year-old raintrees on it. Embracing our ethos of ‘Conserving as We Construct’, we conserved these heritage raintrees, and centred the architectural design around them. Designed by MVRDV, this iconic District 9 residence is today a lush haven and tranquil retreat from the bustle of the city. Discover why we chose to honour these original ‘residents’ of Irwell Hill Residences and how they enhance the property's unique character: https://lnkd.in/g6BB64yh #CityDevelopments #IrwellHillResidences #RainTrees #Sustainability #RealEstate #Singapore #Residentialdevelopments

  • This morning, we officially unveiled the CDL EcoTrain and MicroForest at City Square Mall! Gracing the event was President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, who unveiled two sustainability innovations: the CDL EcoTrain, Singapore's first decommissioned SMRT train cabin, transformed into a solar-powered climate education platform, and the CDL MicroForest, a 2,800 sq ft regenerative tropical microforest created with support from National University of Singapore and National Parks Board, designed to mitigate urban heat and enhance biodiversity. Both projects underscore CDL’s dedication to 3P collaboration for climate and nature action. Mr Sherman Kwek, CDL’s Group CEO, said, "Climate action thrives on the power of 3P collaboration and innovation. We created the CDL EcoTrain and MicroForest as sustainable showcases to complement our ongoing revamp of City Square Mall. Since its opening in 2009, City Square Mall has established itself as Singapore’s first eco-mall, home to innovative community spaces for sustainability events and education, such as the Singapore Sustainability Academy. The timely launch of the EcoTrain and MicroForest enhances the Mall’s unique position as a family-friendly eco-hub with exciting programmes to nurture future eco-champions and promote sustainable living.” Read more: https://lnkd.in/gUwFPG9Y #CityDevelopmentsLimited #CDLEcoTrain #MicroForest #Sustainability #Singapore
