🍚 As the global demand for food rises, so does the pressure on our ecosystems. Thanks to advancements in agricultural technology, we are now able to produce more food with less land. By reducing the need for farmland expansion, we can preserve forests and biodiversity hotspots, safeguarding habitats and contributing to a more sustainable future. Learn more about the benefits of plant science technologies and its contribution to biodiversity conservation with the infographic here. ⬇ CropLife International

🌏👐 Today (Oct 17) marks World Day for the Eradication of Poverty. Hunger and malnutrition continue to persist in Asia with 384.5 million facing hunger and 1.18 billion facing food insecurity. Ensuring a stable and affordable food supply is key to food security resiliency and keeping millions out of extreme poverty. 👩🏻🔬🌱 Innovation and science present new avenues to boost agricultural productivity ensuring a stable and affordable food supply, increase farmer incomes and livelihoods. One such innovation that has helped increase farmers income is plant biotechnology or GM crops. For example, for each extra dollar invested in GM crop seeds (relative to the cost of conventional seed), farmers in developing countries gained an average return of US$5.22 (Source: Brookes, G. (2022). https://lnkd.in/gPBu5Zya).
