This innovative partnership builds on 7-Eleven's "Grounds to Green" program, taking both companies' commitment to sustainability to new heights. By replacing traditional barley with surplus bread and coffee grounds from 7-Eleven’s own brand 7CAFÉ, this collaboration champions a circular economy and reduces waste. The result is a delicious and unique brew perfect for any occasion. Showcasing this groundbreaking collaboration, Alex Liu, Managing Director of 7-Eleven Hong Kong and Macau, and Keith Siu, Chief Operating Officer of Maxim’s Group, celebrated the launch of BOB at a media event. Popular actress Lin Min-chen, the face of the brand launch, also joined the event to help raise awareness for this eco-conscious brew. DFI Retail Group was honoured to participate in the 2024 Racial Diversity and Inclusion Recruitment Fair hosted by the Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC) and the Federation of Hong Kong Ethnic Communities. It was the first-ever recruitment fair hosted by the EOC to celebrate the 15th Anniversary of the Race Discrimination Ordinance in Hong Kong. Held at the Khalsa Diwan (Sikh Temple) in Wan Chai last Sunday, this meaningful event brought together hundreds of jobseekers from varied ethnic communities, breaking down employment barriers for racially disadvantaged candidates.   Our Talent Acquisition team had the opportunity to engage with many skilled, qualified, and ambitious talents, aiming to provide them with the most beneficial development opportunities. 7-Eleven Hong Kong and its charity partner Foodlink Foundation recently collaborated to host the first-ever 7-Eleven "Grounds to Green" Coffee Grounds Upcycling Program Volunteering Day at the Senior Buddy Charity Farm. Team members from across DFI and their families came together to learn how 7CAFÉ coffee grounds were transformed into organic fertiliser, nourishing fresh produce on the farm. The day was filled with hands-on activities where our volunteers contributed to spreading fertiliser, harvesting vegetables and preparing veggie packs for those in need. Interactive workshops demonstrated the versatility of coffee grounds, from crafting soap to planting okra. It was a great opportunity to see the power of upcycling in action! This pioneering initiative exemplifies how we can create a sustainable green cycle of care that benefits our community and the planet. By recycling coffee grounds from an estimated 1.25 million cups of 7CAFÉ coffee annually and repurposing them into fertiliser, we anticipate generating approximately 4,000 kg of fresh organic produce, providing nutritious meals to those who need them most. We are proud to be part of this journey with 7-Eleven and Foodlink Foundation.
