Dot Dot Fire was recently invited to the Barking & Dagenham College Skills Show, an all-day event with a focus on putting the spotlight on technical skills and training for a variety of industries! The BDC Skills Show covered a wide range of topics that the vocational school offers further education courses in, including business, beauty therapy, media, construction, and more. It also covered digital software and video games, which is where we came in! While at the event, our Co-Founder Hilary Lok, and our Chief Partnerships Officer Sabrina Au sat down to host the ‘Dot Dot Fire Masterclass: Breaking Through Glass Ceilings’, in which they talked about their backgrounds and experiences working in game development, as well as dealing with imposter syndrome, dealing with failures and the practical aspects of running a business that people don’t often talk about, like accounting, and making sure things are legal. Lots of competitions were also held throughout the day with cool prizes on offer, including a Character Design Competition for Games Art and Animation students, where both visitors from our game development studio got to be a part of the judges panel that decided upon the winners (and the runner ups) from an incredible selection of brilliant and varied work by those that took part. We’re always looking to be involved with local communities and were so happy and proud to be invited to take part in the BDC’s event. Hopefully, Dot Dot Fire will get to come back and do it all over again next year! ... and in the meantime, if you’d like Dot Dot Fire to come to your event, or speak to your students, then please don’t hesitate to reach out!

🌟 Did you know that St. Antony's Catholic Primary School was the very first school to launch Dot Dot Fire's Money Wise Lessons in the UK? 🌟 This past October, Dot Dot Fire celebrated #BlackHistoryMonth alongside students from St. Antony's. Hilary spoke to students as part of their 'Young, Gifted, and Great' unit, sharing stories about our roots in Hong Kong, our journey to the UK, and the perseverance and work we put in to reach our dreams! 🚀 It is always an honour to get to speak with the young people we serve, and encourage them to aim higher every day. 🚀

🚀 We always love getting the chance to collaborate and share ideas with initiatives that are as excited about making positive social change as we are!🚀 In remembering all the highlights from our amazing 2023, we wanted to mention one event that we hadn't given a shout-out to yet! 🔥 This past September, our own Hilary and Sabrina attended The Centre for Social Justice's Big Listen, where they got to connect with organisations and charities doing vital work to support those in poverty all across the UK. They also brainstormed and developed strategies and solutions to help bring young people out of cycles of social deprivation.🔥 Thank you very much to all the Big Listen organisers for putting together such a brilliant day!
