The 3rd country in Asia to demonstrate true commitment to decarbonize aviation. Korea will mandate a 1% blend of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) for all international flights departing from the country starting in 2027, aligning with global carbon neutrality goals. The initiative, announced by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, coincides with the ICAO's carbon offsetting scheme. #SustainableAviation #SAF #Korea

The Australia view: SAF mandates can stimulate demand and supply, but their implementation must be carefully managed to avoid potential risks. If mandates are introduced without sufficient domestic production and refining capacity, SAF costs could rise due to supply constraints. Any SAF mandate should align with Australia's Safeguard Mechanism reforms, which set declining emissions baselines for major emitters like Qantas and Virgin Australia. The Safeguard Mechanism encourages emitters to choose the most cost-effective abatement methods. Additionally, mandates must include strong certification processes to prevent the use of low-quality SAF that could undermine emission reduction goals.
The Hon. Catherine King MP has released the Australian Government's Aviation White Paper, highlighting the role of sustainable aviation fuel in its transport decarbonisation plan. "Access to sustainable aviation fuel will be critical for the sector’s transition, and we are fast tracking the development of a domestic low carbon liquid fuel industry to ensure Australia is able to maximise aviation’s contribution to net zero," said Minister King. The government’s commitments include developing a certification scheme to verify the emissions from the production of SAF; undertaking consultation on the costs and benefits of options for a production incentive and demand-side measures; and providing access to the $1.7 billion Future Made in Australia Innovation Fund to support the development of nascent LCLF production technologies. Thailand will lay out a clear mandate for SAF from 2025 to 2036 and rely on its existing ethanol base to support this growth. The AEDP 2024 proposes a 1% rate target for SAF with conventional jet fuel in 2026 and will increase to 2% between 2027 and 2029, 3% in 2030- 2032, 5% in 2033-2035, and 8% by 2036.The government plans to use the AtJ SAF production pathway when the SAF blend rate with jet fuel reaches 3-8%. #saf #thailand #ethanol

Reckon that LanzaJet and LanzaTech has one of the best chances at cracking the elusive puzzle of converting biomass and municipal waste into SAF. #AtJ #SAF #biofuels
News! LanzaJet and LanzaTech are teaming up to launch CirculAir™, a breakthrough solution that converts waste, carbon, and renewable power into Sustainable Aviation Fuel (#SAF). This joint offering combines the groundbreaking technologies of LanzaJet and LanzaTech to transform nearly any waste or carbon resource into drop-in SAF. With CirculAir, we can turn a wide range of waste materials—such as municipal solid waste, agricultural waste, recycled carbon from industrial processes, and even CO2 from the air—into SAF that will reduce aviation emissions by 85% to carbon negative. This process not only meets EU and other national requirements by leveraging waste-based feedstocks, but it also enables countries worldwide to turn their local waste streams into valuable SAF. CirculAir uses the same feedstocks as other technologies and pathways – Fischer Tropsch, Power-to-Liquids (PtL), Waste-to-Fuels, eFuels – but efficiently processes them to SAF through our ethanol transformation process which is already an ASTM approved pathway. Nearly any feedstock can now be processed into SAF through CirculAir – offering a clean and efficient process yielding the highest selectivity to SAF available in the market, and flexibility to produce Renewable Diesel with no other by-products. In-flight measurements from an Airbus A350 using 100% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) reveal significant reductions in soot emissions and contrail ice crystals compared to conventional Jet A-1 fuel. The ECLIF3 study, by Airbus, Rolls-Royce, DLR, and Neste, shows a 56% reduction in ice crystals and a 26% reduction in contrails' climate impact with 100% SAF. These results underscore SAF's potential to lower aviation's climate impact by reducing both CO2 and non-CO2 emissions. #SustainableAviationFuel #SAF #ClimateAction #Aviation #GreenTech #Innovation #NetZero #Aerospace #Sustainability
We’ve partnered with Airbus Aircraft German Aerospace Center (DLR) and Rolls-Royce for the world’s first in-flight study using 100% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) ✈️ This study confirms that SAF significantly cuts non-CO2 emissions and reduces the climate impact of contrails compared to using regular aviation fuel. Global model simulations estimate a 26% drop in contrail climate impact when using 100% SAF. 🙌 Alexander Kueper, VP of Renewable Aviation at Neste, shares his thoughts: “The results confirm a significantly lower climate impact when using 100% SAF due to the lack of aromatics in Neste’s SAF, supporting its use at higher concentrations than the currently approved 50%.” Discover more about this groundbreaking study and its implications 👉 https://bit.ly/45daouq #Neste #SAF #SustainableAviation #Renewables
