Last week, President Trump signed an executive order creating a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve, officially positioning the US as a frontrunner in national crypto adoption! Now, India's policymakers face a natural question: Should we follow suit? Here's what our co-founder tweeted: https://lnkd.in/gSsBv6xz USA’s Strategic Bitcoin Reserve will hold nearly 200,000 BTC confiscated by law enforcement, and prohibits their sale, effectively creating a digital Fort Knox for Bitcoin. But why Bitcoin? Its fixed supply of 21 million coins makes it appealing as a hedge against inflation and economic instability. https://lnkd.in/gheVEiff Bitcoin surged 10% following Trump's announcement, hitting above $90,000 from a low of $78,200. India already leads global fintech with UPI's 10 billion monthly transactions. A strategic crypto reserve could further cement our leadership in digital finance! But on the flip side, crypto remains highly volatile. Plus, India's current crypto tax regime imposes a hefty 30% tax on profits and stringent reporting requirements. Without clear regulatory frameworks under SEBI or RBI, managing a strategic Bitcoin reserve could be complex. https://lnkd.in/gtRcFE-f Hypothetically speaking, imagine India announcing its own Bitcoin reserve tomorrow. Crypto markets would likely rally again. But without proper regulations and risk management strategies in place, volatility could be a significant risk to financial stability. Ultimately, India's decision hinges on balancing innovation with caution. The US has set a precedent; now it's India's turn to decide.
