    Many senior executives have requested my advice on suitable courses in the fields of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Blockchain/Web3. Sharing my recommendations here, with gratitude to Theodoros Evgeniou of INSEAD for his contributions. What's the best AI course you took and what was one thing you liked about it? #insead #ai

    We launched INSEAD’s “#AI for #Business” Open Enrolment Executive Program for senior executives back in 2019... It is now one of the oldest and biggest AI Executive programs in the world. This was an experiment for our team (Phanish PuranamVille Satopää and me), who between us do research on machine learning foundations, forecasting, modelling systems of artificial agents, AI governance and organization design, and much more. But it turned out to be an incredibly successful one!   After a pause for the pandemic, #AIB is back in full swing. We just completed another run with 50+ super-enthusiastic participants in Fontainebleau. Topics included foundations of AI and GenAI and their applications and implications for business, the latest in regulation and the new AI risks, organization design and human-AI collaboration, AI Governance, and a lot more. Plenty of hands on exercises (participants built their own custom GPT!), and visits to AI start-ups at STATION F and to ENGIE. We are very excited to welcome future cohorts of AIB, and to expand the program’s incredible #alumni base- a global community of executives who are AI champions in their respective organizations. And thank you AIB Class of March 2024- it was an amazing experience to work with you.

    📣 PRESS RELEASE ALERT! 📣 After months of data collection, analysis, and drafting, we are incredibly proud to share our inaugural STATE OF INCLUSION REPORT 2024! As a professional association focused on education, networking, and advocacy, our mission is to make the crypto, blockchain, and web3 industry more inclusive to women. But what does that mean? How will we know if we've made progress? In a data-driven industry, we need a metric for measuring the baseline and where we want to go. This report is our baseline and our road map for improvement. KEY FINDINGS ‼ ❗ Crypto does not score well against the greater tech industry❗ ‼ 📈 Survey results showed that the crypto industry had an inclusion score of 43.9 compared to the larger tech industry’s score of 78. 📈 When inclusion score averages were analyzed at the cross-demographic level (differences like race, sexuality, disabilities, or health conditions) the primary differentiator was GENDER. ‼ ❗The crypto industry has a distinct gender gap❗ ‼ 📉 Women ranked lower in satisfaction than men across all 5 inclusion metrics (culture, management, career development, flexible work options, and safe work environment). 📉 The most significant variance was between male and female subgroups. 📉 Pay equity was the most prominent gender-based demand among workplaces surveyed, followed by improved feedback culture. 📉 When surveyed on workplace flexibility, the lowest scoring groups were among racial minorities, but women generally scored lower than men across subgroups. 📉 Responses showed that main concerns were with regard to parental policies and work flexibility, namely women seeking better maternity policies.  ‼ ❗ The crypto industry feels unsafe to too many❗ ‼   😱 When surveying on experiences of physical, mental or sexual harassment in the workplace, there is an astonishing disparity between the crypto and tech industries. 😱 The “safest” members of the crypto industry (white heterosexual males with no conditions) are still scoring 70% LOWER than tech generally.  😱 82% of women reported experiencing the industry as not being free from harassment, but a staggering 48% of men reported the same! ‼ ❗Individual corporate efforts matter❗ ‼ ☀ Some company-specific data resulted in a higher overall inclusion score compared to industry-wide data. ☀ This variance indicates that some organizations are effectively creating more inclusive environments, and underscores the importance of company-level initiatives and policies in fostering an inclusive culture. The data collected validates the work we're doing and the report explains why it's so important we keep doing it. We need to improve inclusion if our industry is going to recruit and keep top talent, and if we're going to grow responsibly. Companies that are interested in improving inclusion should contact us!     #fakework as consultants Brent Peterson and Gaylan Nielson define it in their 2009 book is "effort under the illusion of value." The crimes include pointless meetings, reports, and presentations. In the tech industry, specifically, the term "fake work" conjures up an image of lazy engineers "resting and vesting" — long-tenured, high-paid employees, doing very little work while waiting on a lucrative payday from their company stock. In one viral TikTok video, Brit Levy, Meta's former diversity, equity, and inclusion policy analyst, said she had to "basically fight to find work" and the company was simply holding on to employees "like Pokémon cards." There's only one real culprit for the culture of "fake work. It's lazy management." said Scott Latham. Read more via the link.     At the INSEAD Future Forum themed “How Will #Web3 and #AI Transform Finance?”, INSEAD Professor Jason Davis and alumna Juliet Kasko, together with a panel of diverse practitioners took a deep dive into how these technologies are shaping finance. Undoubtedly, the potential of #GenAI to drive cost and operational efficiencies, as well as mass customise interactions at scale is unprecedented. It is clear that artificial intelligence and #crypto are not only reinventing financial products and delivery, but also influencing who gets to participate. As these relatively nascent technologies continue to unfold, panelists point to scalability being a challenge, primarily due to the lack of interoperability and market stability. Ultimately, addressing questions such as how to create guardrails and ensure responsible use require an ecosystem effort and regulatory intervention.
