The true value of industry events lies in the meaningful interactions they foster. Recently, we had the privilege of introducing GreenbiX (formerly ArcticGlide) at a NUS Cities event to a wider audience, showcasing our commitment to sustainable HVAC solutions. In my experience, successful business isn't about aggressive sales tactics. It's about understanding client needs, building lasting relationships and offering solutions that address real problems. We believe our passive displacement coil technology is a game-changer, offering superior cooling capacity and lower costs compared to traditional coils, with significant potential for reducing emissions in the HVAC sector. The insightful questions from our knowledgeable audience - covering air quality, humidity and cooling efficiency - reinforced the market's readiness for innovation and cost-effective solutions. Personally, I thrive on curiosity. Each question is an opportunity to challenge our assumptions, identify overlooked areas, and drive further innovation. This aligns perfectly with our firm's dedication to R&D and product enhancement. During the event, Shuai Guo, who holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering, expertly fielded technical questions from the audience. His deep expertise in engineering added significant value to the discussions, demonstrating the much-needed knowledge for true innovations. The enthusiasm we encountered reaffirms my belief in Greenbix's potential to revolutionise the HVAC industry. By combining technical expertise with a deep understanding of market dynamics, we believe we are a solution to reduce emissions and improve efficiency. As we move forward, I'm excited about the opportunities that lie ahead - not just for Greenbix, but for the entire sustainable technology sector. Had a great time sharing about Greenbix (formerly known as ArcticGlide) with the analysts and team from Protégé Ventures, showcasing Greenbix's innovative approach to sustainability in real estate. What stood out to me was how willing and capable the analyst-in-training were willing to learn. There were also clear questions asked which did provide us an external perspective. During the sharing, we shared on 🌡️ Our flagship product: Patented Passive Displacement Cooling (PDC) coil technology offers 30% energy savings vs. traditional HVAC, 50% smaller footprint and minimal maintenance requirements. 🌡️ Greenbix isn't just a single-product company; we provide a comprehensive suite of advisory services for the real estate market, offering sustainability and economic solutions. 🌡️ We're building a collaborative ecosystem through strategic partnerships, believing that in the startup world, a rising tide lifts all boats. 🌡️ Our value proposition: Tangible long-term cost savings and market differentiation. We're proving that sustainability can be a catalyst for improved bottom lines and enhanced shareholder value with a long-term perspective. 🌡️ Transparency is key: We acknowledge our current limitations, allowing us to prioritise high-impact sectors while investing heavily in R&D for future expansion. Coming from a finance and sustainability background, I believe in going beyond just selling products. We're committed to addressing stakeholders' needs holistically, even if it means recommending solutions outside our portfolio. This approach builds trust and aligns with the need for comprehensive climate action. The growing awareness of climate change necessitates innovative economic and financial models to make climate tech investments not just environmentally sound, but financially viable. We believe Greenbix is positioned to be a catalyst for this change, bridging the gap between sustainability and profitability in the real estate sector. We're not just aiming for an exit; we're working towards our ambitions of building a sustainable future where green tech is as attractive to financiers as it is crucial for our planet. #impact #sustainability #cleantech #realestate #innovation Shuai Guo Kai Xian Cheng, PhD JD Lee

The race to #decarbonise the built environment is intensifying, as buildings continue to contribute a significant amount of #carbon emissions. We are excited to see the launch of the free, web-based Singapore Building Carbon Calculator, a national initiative designed to measure the often-overlooked embodied carbon emissions behind the construction of buildings and urban structures. By offering a localised calculator, this initiative ensures more accurate measurements, as emission factors can vary significantly from overseas data. Considering that most construction materials in Singapore are imported, it's crucial to account for the embodied carbon associated with these imports. Embodied carbon often receives less attention than operational carbon, but both are essential in one's sustainability journey. At ArcticGlide, we believe that addressing both is the key to a sustainable future. What innovative decarbonisation solutions have you encountered in the built environment? Share your thoughts and do reach out to us, if you wish to know more about ArcticGlide's patented solution. #Sustainability #BuiltEnvironment #Innovation

Do check out this post about how the PDC system works and our current installation at The Heeren.
Innovations in Passive Displacement Cooling (PDC) Systems I took part in a site visit to a PDC project done by NUS and Natflow at The Heeren this afternoon. In a nutshell, PDC relies on natural convection rather than mechanical fans to circulate the cool air in a room. I wrote about PDC a few months ago in this post - https://lnkd.in/g49BSNGH The photo shows the half height PDC vents at an office in The Heeren. The arrow shows how the cold air descends from the vent all the way to the floor, where it picks up body and equipment heat, before the hot air ascends to the diffusers where it is cooled and the cycle starts again. I learnt that PDC systems actually work better when there is a full (ie designed) heat load in the room. This is because a heat load drives the convection cycle. If the room has no occupants, there will hardly be any convection flow. I also learnt that excessive solar heat gain from the windows, that could inadvertently turn the PDC vents next to the windows into solar chimneys, can be addressed by better insulation. So what's the innovation at The Heeren. It is that the vents don't have to extend all the way to the floor as is the usual design. By being only half height, you preserve more useful space. But won't the cold air start to diffuse outwards at slightly above head level where the half height vents are? Apparently not, because of something called the Coanda Effect. I was shown a video of a smoke test done with the half height PDC vents that shows the cold air hugging the side of the room and descending all the way to the floor. PDC systems save airside energy as well as space taken up by ducting and mechanical fans (just peer upwards at open ceiling offices and you can see how much of the ceiling space is taken up by cold air ducting). There are many PDC systems already installed at Nanyang Technological University, amongst other places. By doing away with AHUs, you save not only space (can squeeze more floors into the same building height), but also reduce the number of transformers, substation capacity, contracted capacity charge etc. This is what we mean by Integrative Design and Factor 10 Engineering. One energy efficiency measure can have cascading system benefits. Don't optimise the parts and pessimise the system. With climate change, aircon is rapidly becoming necessary and not a luxury. We need to make aircon as efficient as possible. Not just in Singapore, but all over the world. (Photo take on 20 June 2024)
