My absolute delight to share that Greenie Web and myself have been featured on Forbes 30 Under 30 list for Asia!
When I first woke up on Thursday to this news, I was shocked and incredibly humbled. Compared with many of our predecessors, Mark Zuckerburg(2012) and Zhang Yi Ming - founder of ByteDance (2013), what I have done with Greenie Web so far pales in comparison. However, it is with immense encouragement that I will continue to push forward.
Gratitude is very important - and I want to take this chance to thank everyone who has been involved with Greenie Web thus far.
First and foremost, I thank God for sustaining me even through my lowest moments of entrepreneurship. At moments like this, it is very easy to think that entrepreneurship is about the highs, the wins, the awards and the honour.
It is not.
There have been plenty of lows - plenty of them. There is a popular idiom in the Chinese language that says 10 seconds of fame on stage requires 10 years of hard work.
This could not be truer in entrepreneurship where the lows are definitely the lowest of the lows. So I thank God that through daily prayer and devotion, I have managed to maintain proper mental health and have derived strength to bounce back from failure, time and again.
Second, my thanks goes to my parents for their unwavering support, whatever unorthodox decision I may make. My parents don't use LinkedIn often, if at all, and probably will not read this unless I intentionally send them a screenshot. But nonetheless, I want to give them a big shoutout!
When I last physically saw my parents last month, I realized how much they have aged. The few strands of grey hair have made way to innumerable strands of white, and the once fine freckles have grown deeper.
In startups, we talk a lot about how there is no time. We must act now. But this season made me realize that is also true for the time that we spend with our family. Treasure the time you have with family.
Third, mentorship has been in vogue in the last few years. But to me, it is more than a trend and I have met many mentors who have selflessly dedicated their expertise, advice and network. Thank you Vinod V. Mahboobani 馬偉樂, Joshua Au, Faris Ridzuan, Glenn Seah, Suthida Chang, Shirley Wong, Zohair Ahmed, Douglas Peris, Michael Yiin, Shiladitya Ghosh, Hong Xiang.
Last but not least - those who labour tirelessly in a startup, the core members, the friends who chip in, the interns and more. Thank you.
No man is an island and no startup can function with just one founder. As a sole founder, I am deeply aware of my limitations and I am grateful for each and every individual who has contributed along the way.
Greenie Web would not be the same without all of your efforts.
Having been on LinkedIn hiatus for a long time, it is wonderful coming home to this site with many words of encouragement and congratulations.
Stay tuned for exciting updates!
