Groupe Huit and Keran Asia Services on a field mission in Son La, Vietnam! This week, a team of E&S experts from Groupe Huit and KAS went on a site visit in Son La province for the AFD - Agence Française de Développement "flood protection and urban resilience program in Son La Province".   As well as an opportunity to taste cow intestines, this trip enabled the Consultant team to get a better understading of the proposed infrastructures, conduct stakeholder consultations and assess the environmental and social risks associated with: 1. The construction of a tunnel and open channel in a karstic area to limit flooding and increase rainwater drainage capacity 2. The improvement of rainwater drainage channels in the city streets, and 4. Sustainable Development in Hà Tĩnh City: A Collaborative Milestone with ADB project preparation “TA 6843-VIE: Unlocking the Potential for Climate Change and Disaster Resilient Multisector Provincial Project” On November 14th, Groupe Huit and Keran Asia team had a productive meeting with Hà Tĩnh City's People Committee and the Asian Development Bank (ADB). The focus of our discussions revolved around the meticulous review of progress and the implementation plan for the "Hà Tĩnh City priority Infrastructure for Climate Change Adaptation” project. On November 8, 2023, based on comprehensive assessments and feedback from relevant entities, the Provincial People's Committee finalized and submitted Investment Principle No. 489/TTr-UBND to seek the Prime Minister's approval. The anticipated approval is expected in December 2023. During the session, our consulting team presented the technical options analysis of the four integral components of the "Priority Infrastructure and Climate-Resilient Urban Development in Hà Tĩnh City" project: * Comprehensive drainage system for Hà Tĩnh City. * Expansion of water storage and drainage capabilities for Hà Tĩnh City and the western and southwestern adjacent areas. * Development of a road network connecting climate-resilient areas. * Technical assistance and capacity enhancement. Our delegation also thoroughly reviewed and discussed the project's implementation plan including due diligence on environmental and social issues, based on in-depth analyses conducted by our team. We are excited about the positive trajectory of this collaboration and look forward to contributing to the sustainable development of Hà Tĩnh City in partnership with the ADB.
