Set in one of the planet’s most precious marine ecosystems, it highlights three groundbreaking initiatives: 🌿 Sulubaaï Foundation – turning the devastated Pangatalan Island into a thriving marine sanctuary led by empowered local communities. 🐢 C3 Philippines – protecting the endangered dugong and restoring seagrass habitats through ten community-managed MPAs. 🌊 Tubbataha Reef Natural Park – a remote UNESCO World Heritage Site where rangers and scientists preserve over 500 marine species. 🏆 The Blue Quest Palawan has been honoured at more than 30 international festivals, including San Francisco, Deauville, and Newport. It’s a moving and urgent call to scale Marine Protected Areas as part of the 30x30 goal—protecting 30% of the world’s oceans by 2030. I invite you to take time to watch this inspiring film. Meet the incredible women of our HER Planet Earth Philippines Expedition Team! 🇵🇭💚 In two weeks, 12 remarkable women will embark on an extraordinary journey to the Cordillera region, home to the breathtaking Banaue Rice Terraces - often called the “Eighth Wonder of the World.” Built over 2,000 years ago by indigenous communities, these terraces now face threats from climate change, deforestation, and economic pressures. ✨ Our mission: 🌱 Empower Indigenous Women Farmers – In partnership with the Rice Terraces Farmers’ Cooperative, we are supporting women-led sustainable farming initiatives and regenerative agriculture to protect both livelihoods and biodiversity. 🌍 Preserve Cultural & Environmental Heritage – With the guidance of Conservation International, we are committed to safeguarding this iconic landscape for future generations. 💡 Raise Awareness & Funds – Every HER Planet Earth expedition shines a light on critical environmental and social issues, mobilising support for grassroots initiatives that drive real impact. One of the most breathtaking moments? Witnessing a snow leopard in the wild—a once-in-a-lifetime experience that underscored the urgency of protecting this endangered species. Protecting the Ghost of the Mountains ❄️🐆 In the remote, rugged landscapes of the Himalayas, incredible local women are leading efforts to protect snow leopards - one of the world’s most elusive big cats. Meet Rose Huizenga, a true force of nature in marine conservation! 🌊 In 2012, Rose arrived in Gili Air, Indonesia, and was struck by the rapid decline of coral reefs. Despite having no formal background in marine science, her determination to make a difference led her to co-found GiliSharkConservation, where she trained individuals to collect underwater data to protect the marine park. But Rose didn’t stop there. As a mother of two, she recognized the need to tackle gender disparities in marine science. This realization inspired her to launch Coral Catch, Indonesia’s first all-female coral restoration team—a groundbreaking initiative empowering local women to take the lead in protecting our oceans. 🌍✨ Her incredible journey recently took her to Mexico, where she stood as a keynote speaker at Reef Futures to share the inspiring story of Coral Catch. Rose received a standing ovation for her heartfelt talk, highlighting the power of community, resilience, and hope. Throughout this journey, the team raised funds and awareness for conservation efforts in Mongolia, while experiencing the warmth of nomadic families and the breathtaking beauty of Mongolia’s landscapes.
