InterContinental Energy is excited to announce a significant advancement in the partnership between the Western Green Energy Hub (WGEH) and Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) with the signing of a new Collaboration Agreement designed to propel the WGEH project in southeast Western Australia. This agreement builds on their earlier Memorandum of Understanding from July 2023 and lays the groundwork for an extensive feasibility study for Stage 1 of the project. The feasibility study will focus on the development of approximately 6 GW of hybrid wind and solar power, aiming to produce up to 330,000 tonnes of green hydrogen annually. This partnership emphasises the commitment of both organisations to leverage their expertise and networks, facilitating engagement with key stakeholders in both Australia and Korea. WGEH CEO Raymond Macdonald expressed enthusiasm about the project's potential to position Australia as a leader in the global green hydrogen sector while meeting the increasing demand in Korea. KEPCO's involvement brings invaluable experience in large-scale infrastructure projects, enhancing the project's viability. This agreement is timely, coinciding with supportive government initiatives in both Australia and South Korea aimed at promoting renewable hydrogen and green fuels.
