Came across this article on World Sight Day and felt it timely to highlight the great work done by my collaborator Dr Dave Wee and his team from Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology (IMCB), who have developed an accurate and economical targeted full genomic sequencing approach for mutations in the ABCA4 gene, which are implicated in Stargardt disease, a genetic eye disorder that causes vision loss beginning in childhood. Last week I had the privilege of attending the opening of the NUS Guangzhou Research Translation and Innovation Institute (GRTII) where we signed a strategic partnership agreement between JN Medsys and the institute. As the university’s flagship initiative in the Greater Bay Area, we will work together with the GRTII to develop and commercialise innovative life science technologies that will benefit Singapore, Guangzhou and the Greater Bay Area. I also had to give a last minute interview to the Chinese TV media in Mandarin, which I somehow survived through.
