On July 11, 2024, Keppel, represented by Szue Hann TAN, MBA, MArch, Head of Sustainability and SUR Solutions at Keppel’s Real Estate Division, participated in the Sustainability Open Innovation Challenge (SOIC) presentation ceremony alongside challenge statement owners and innovators, graced by Mr. Chuan Teck Lee, Chairman of Enterprise Singapore. Earlier this year, Keppel’s Sustainable Urban Renewal (SUR) Solutions team took part in Enterprise Singapore’s SOIC to source vendors with innovative energy efficiency solutions aimed at reducing plug load energy consumption in buildings. Given that plug load can account for up to 25% of total building energy usage, the team focused on reducing energy consumption by targeting plugged-in devices used by tenants. This not only cuts energy costs for tenants but also helps Keppel, as the building owner, achieve its energy reduction goals. We have selected and appointed Green Koncepts - a pioneer in Cloud IoT Solutions - and testbed its plug load management system proof-of-concept at one of Keppel’s offices in Keppel Bay Tower. The results were impressive, achieving over 30% reduction in plug load consumption and a minimum 5% reduction in whole-building energy usage. Through Keppel’s SUR model, which leverages cutting-edge technologies to reduce both operational and embodied carbon in buildings, we aim to deliver significant ESG outcomes and contribute to achieving net-zero targets for our stakeholders. • Both Keppel and the Embassy of Denmark in Singapore recognise that improving the energy efficiency of buildings is the most achievable method towards meeting emission targets and providing significant cost savings for building owners and operators. On 2 July 2024, based on the common interest to contribute to reducing the built environment’s carbon footprint and to widen collaboration opportunities with leading-edge Danish companies in energy-efficient technologies, Samuel Ng, President, Singapore and Managing Director, Sustainable Urban Renewal of Keppel’s Real Estate Division and Her Excellency Sandra Jensen Landi, Ambassador of Denmark to Singapore jointly signed an MOU. The MOU will be the cornerstone of Keppel’s partnership with Royal Danish Embassy in conducting energy surveys of commercial and retail buildings, sharing knowledge and know-how on energy efficiency solutions, as well as facilitating the engagements between Keppel and Danish solution providers in Singapore and beyond. This in turn will help drive the co-development of innovative and sustainable solutions for our Sustainable Urban Renewal (SUR) initiative, which aims to bolster the efficiency and sustainability performance of both new and aged commercial buildings. #sustainability #SUR

We are pleased to share that Keppel Ltd. has secured the AI - Real Estate award at the SBR Technology Excellence Awards 2024 for its Real Estate Division’s pioneering project that seamlessly integrates big data and artificial intelligence (AI)/machine learning (ML) techniques to revolutionize building operations. This accolade underscores the project's groundbreaking approach to enhancing energy efficiency, indoor environmental quality (IEQ), and occupant comfort within the real estate sector.   Setting new standards in building operations, Keppel has developed an AI/ML model to forecast carbon dioxide levels with at least 93% accuracy, predict occupancy to optimize building operations, and adjust HVAC systems based on data insights and occupant feedback, all whilst reducing energy consumption, and enhancing IEQ and occupant comfort. The project adopts non-intrusive methods to monitor the built environment, thereby ensuring the health and productivity of occupants and tenants without compromising privacy or comfort.   Bryan Ong, Managing Director, Real Estate IT Business Partner said, "We are immensely proud of this achievement, which reflects our commitment to leveraging advanced technologies to create smarter, more sustainable buildings. This award is a testament to the hard work and innovative spirit of our team. We believe that the integration of AI and ML in building operations is not just the future but the present, driving significant improvements in energy efficiency and occupant well-being. We are pleased to share that Keppel was recognised for its successful transformation at the Singapore Business Awards (SBA) 2023/2024, where our CEO, Mr Loh Chin Hua, was named Outstanding Chief Executive of the Year.   Under Mr Loh's leadership, Keppel has made significant progress over the years to restructure and adapt to the changing environment, successfully harnessing its industrial roots to transform into a global asset manager and operator. This multi-dimensional transformation has seen Keppel turn from a balance sheet player into an asset-light asset manager, from a conglomerate with vertical silos into a horizontally integrated company with end-to-end value chains.   Mr Loh said, “I am deeply honoured and humbled to receive this award, which is truly a recognition of the collective work of past and present generations of Keppelites. Transformation is difficult, and many things can go wrong. But the risks for not changing can often be even greater. As we accelerate the execution of our Vision 2030 strategy, I am confident that Keppel, with the continued support of our stakeholders, including investors and Limited Partners, is well positioned to ride the next wave of quality, sustainable growth.”   Jointly organised by The Business Times and DHL, the SBA acknowledges companies and business leaders who have contributed to Singapore’s development and shown excellence in corporate management.
