  • Reducing readmissions saves more than money. It saves the time and energy of the patient and their family. It elevates overburdened healthcare systems (especially in A&E), health care staff have more time with each patient A&E, have more opportunities to take breaks/eat/drink/go to the toilet, which reduces risk of mistakes being made.

  • Playing never gets old, so never 'too old all ready' for cognitive rehab 😏

Loving this tag line from Singapores health promotion board! Play can get a bed rep as being 'childish' which can be a barrier to participation for some. Ive been thinking about this alot lately as we restocked our clinic with games for the cognitive training services. I was carefull to select games that didnt look too childish and if they were a bit childish they were more reminiscent of the good old days. Children's games are designed to develop and train cognition which makes many of them great for cognitive training for all ages and conditions. Studies have shown that when a function is trained through play, less repetitions are needed to improve or or master a skill. So next time you see an OT whip out a 'childish' game, remeber it was actually designed for brains not babies and that playing never gets old!
