Dear friends of Living Theories, It is with a heavy heart that we are sharing that Living Theories will be winding down our operations over the coming months. It's been a wonderful journey over the past 10 years, but the current economic and business climate has made it increasingly difficult for our business to be sustainable and healthy, and over months of discussion, the team has reluctantly come to terms with our decision. While we will no longer be able to take on development projects, we will still be available for workshops and consultancies. Over the next few weeks, we will be publishing more of our reflections and thoughts on Gamification and our journey in People Engagement. To our all supporters and faithful clients and partners, we would like to thank you for your friendship, comradeship and belief in our team to carry out exciting projects. Onwards to our next adventure!

Am grateful for the opportunity of being the lead designer of this game that we have successfully run with both DBS and OCBC. Having less than a month to design a physical game for 240 people was something I never thought I'd be able to do. "Defend, Build, Fortify" was inspired by my childhood of playing with tangram puzzles - I wanted to a way to represent the idea of building various visual concepts in a physical form that is accessible to players who may not have the ability to draw. Combining with my personal bias towards anything cyberpunk related - I came up with the concept of players working within their cities to build key buildings, as well as defense to defend against the threats against the Capital at large. Other key considerations I had were to ensure that everyone in a team could play the game to their strengths and weaknesses, so that everyone could meaningfully contribute. With 240 people, it is easy to lose people if not meaningfully engaged throughout the 2 hours. We've just completed our first overseas foray in teambuilding! We're grateful to be invited by OCBC to run their teambuilding experience at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Johor Bahru, and it was massive fun!
