#DidYouKnow that since 1967, Brunei Darussalam and Singapore have had a unique Currency Interchangeability Agreement? This agreement allows Brunei and Singapore currencies to be used interchangeably in both countries! Unlike Singapore currency which is legal tender, Brunei currency is considered customary tender in Singapore. Businesses can choose whether to accept Brunei currency for payment of goods and services. In keeping with the spirit of the Agreement, MAS encourages businesses in Singapore to accept Brunei currency. 🎓Meet Andrew Ang, an Assistant Director with our Capital Markets Group! Andrew’s fascination with complex financial markets began during his junior college days, inspired by books like The Big Short. This passion led him to apply for MAS’ Undergraduate Scholarship, which took him to top universities in the UK where he pursued a Bachelor’s in Political Economy from King’s College London and a Master’s in Finance and Economics from The London School of Economics and Political Science. Currently a team member of MAS’ Capital Markets Group, Andrew helps to shape policies around emerging technologies such as blockchain, digital assets, and artificial intelligence. He also represents MAS’ views at global platforms like the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) FinTech Task Force, which plays a pivotal role in setting international standards for such developments in the FinTech space. Use Fit notes or e-hong baos this Lunar New Year (LNY)! Fit notes are used currency notes that are generally clean and of suitable quality for recirculation, including for festive gifting. Choosing Fit notes or e-hong baos, instead of new notes, preserves the LNY tradition of gifting hong baos, while reducing carbon emissions from producing new notes. For more information on Fit notes: https://lnkd.in/gjT6wtnp For more on the pre-booking and exchange of Fit and new notes: https://lnkd.in/gmw5bYvf
