How does the Government support our businesses in their green transition? Find out what Minister Hong Tat Chee shared at the UN Global Compact Network Singapore Summit last week.
At the UN Global Compact Network Singapore Summit, I shared how we can leverage clean technology and build a skilled workforce to tackle challenges posed by climate change. Planet and profit are not mutually exclusive. In the long run, a prosperous global economy must be an environmentally sustainable one. We must continue to pursue green growth in a sustainable manner by always keeping a sharp focus on the trade-offs and our economic competitiveness. At the event, I also presented the Young Sustainable Development Goals Leaders awards to some exemplary youths. Many are already building green knowledge and skills, and thinking of ways to integrate the sustainable development goals into business solutions. Together, we can make sustainability our competitive advantage to build a more prosperous and resilient future for generations to come. #ConnectWithCHT #GCNSSummit2024 #SDGs

Today, the Inter-Ministerial Committee (IMC), chaired by Minister Indranee Rajah, has published a report today on the review of Singapore's anti-money laundering framework. The IMC’s recommendations and accompanying measures will strengthen the three key prongs underpinning Singapore’s AML framework – “Proactive Prevention, Timely Detection, Effective Enforcement”. Singapore remains open for business and welcome clean funds and legitimate investments, which generate economic growth, generate jobs and create real value for our people. However, we will be inhospitable to illicit funds, and will not hesitate to take action against criminal activities. You can read the report here: go.gov.sg/imc-aml-report #AML #AntiMoneyLaundering

Inflation has been a significant concern for many, directly impacting our day to day expenses. My team and I are committed to doing everything we can to help cushion the impact. I’m also glad to see many Singaporeans are stepping forward to support one another, and the more vulnerable groups. Together, we can keep the cost of living stable and improve the lives of all Singaporeans. 📹 Watch the full video here on my YouTube: https://go.gov.sg/col2oct (📸: MDDI Photo by Betty Chua)

The Singapore Green Bond Framework is a key pillar of Singapore’s efforts to channel investments into projects that will advance our sustainability efforts and contribute towards our net zero goal. Today, we launched the second edition of our Singapore Green Bond Report, which provides an update on the progress made in our national green bond programme. In Financial Year (FY) 2023, $2.1 billion of green bond proceeds were allocated to finance the development of the Jurong Region Line and Cross Island Line. These projects support the “Sustainable Living” pillar of the Singapore Green Plan 2030 and will bring us one step closer to achieving our goal of significantly reducing land transport emissions! 🌳🚃 Read the full Singapore Green Bond Report below 🌿 https://lnkd.in/geDCFJXs
