Lionel Choi was always a lover of classical music. He cherished the feeling of fulfilment after walking out of a concert hall. Driven by his passion, he founded Altenburg Arts in 2019 to give back to the arts. His relationship with the Orchestra of the Music Makers started during the COVID-19 pandemic. With his financial and artistic support, the group was able to co-present concerts with international artists despite tight social distancing measures and border restrictions. Since then, they have continued co-presenting various symphonic concerts, contributing to the growth of #OurSGArts scene. By hosting renowned international artists, local musicians get the opportunity to learn and play alongside them, while audiences get to enjoy world-class performances in Singapore. For his contributions, Lionel was conferred the Distinguished Patron of the Arts (Individual) award at this year’s Patron of the Arts Awards. When a community comes together through #OurSGArts, a simple wall could become a canvas for community storytelling! The 'Cats & Kindness' murals by Clarence Ho and the residents of Boon Lay Avenue are the perfect example. Inspired by the neighbourhood's love for cats and care for one another, these murals not only add vibrancy to the area but also a unique interactive experience through Augmented Reality (AR). Learn more about ‘Cats & Kindness’ in our #LivelyPlaces series! 👇 For more information about the Lively Places Fund and its contribution to #OurSGArts, visit https://lnkd.in/gm4FH23b — The project is part of the Lively Places Programme, a joint initiative by Housing & Development Board (HDB) and Urban Redevelopment Authority of Singapore (URA), together with the National Arts Council (NAC), to support community-led efforts in enlivening Singapore’s public spaces–fostering a #DistinctiveCity by encouraging co-creation between artists and community stakeholders.

It started with a serendipitous encounter with Roy Lichtenstein's ‘Desk Calendar'. Mark Goh and Guillaume Levy-Lambert, co-founders of the MaGMA Collection, were so moved that the duo decided to start collecting seriously so that they could leave future generations with their story through art. 25 years later, they took the next step by donating two large artworks from their collection to Singapore Art Museum – Delta (2007) by Sopheap Pich and Animal Roulette (2005) by David Chan – for more audiences to enjoy. By doing so, Mark and Guillaume have enriched the museum's collection and ensured that shared artistic experiences are made more accessible to all. For their efforts, they were recognised as Distinguished Patron of the Arts (Individual) at this year's Patron of the Arts Awards. The arts can bring people across different communities and backgrounds together for good 🤝 At the ‘Art For All: Diversity, Creativity, Sustainability’ event in Bangkok, Thailand, artists and youth with diverse abilities collaborate to raise climate action awareness. The event was organised by Thailand’s Ministry of Culture and the Art For All Foundation to coincide with the 57th ASEAN Day. Supported by the National Arts Council and the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY), artist, educator, and illustrator Mary B. facilitated sustainability art workshops for youths with diverse abilities, students, and visitors at the ASEAN Cultural Center. The artworks were displayed at the ASEAN Cultural Center and eventually donated to the Art for All Foundation. Such cultural exchanges strengthen ties with arts and culture counterparts overseas, fostering growth and collaboration within the arts community. We are proud to have #OurSGArts contribute to a meaningful milestone! Keen to pursue your artistic endeavours overseas? Learn more about support from NAC at https://lnkd.in/g_Ef9gzV
