Performance specialist. Elevating your event or team to the highest level as I share my learnings from a career in broadcasting and sport alongside the best in the business. Ex-ESPN Star Sports/Premier League/Fox Sports

Sport is meant to be fun, right? Unless perhaps you're sitting there this Monday morning raging over some manufactured debate or conspiracy theory surrounding "your" football team, I hope you'll agree with me. I'm no longer working in sports TV week in and week out and I’ve happily rediscovered the sense of joy that made me fall in love with all things sporting in the first place, as well as a sense of context. Nowadays, I'll watch games if and when I want; whether it's Arsenal v Liverpool, El Clasico, Brentford v Ipswich or a game from my local league, the Singapore Premier League, I might catch it live but more likely will sit down with a coffee and catch the highlights on YouTube at some point. I don’t obsess over the latest talking points or trends, and don't give a thought to the agendas, angst and sheer nonsense that passes for football debate in particular. I just take sport for what it is -- a glorious distraction. And one which has lately seen me find entertainment and inspiration when I have been working on Formula 1, fencing, table tennis and swimming, as well as the football on which I occasionally commentate. And that’s why I’m so excited to be hosting the first of a series of Sports Nights staged by North London Collegiate School (Singapore) . These events are not only about sport but are also a fantastic way to bring people together in a relaxed environment where they can enjoy a shared passion. The first event will be held on November 20th at The Blackbird, Gilman Barracks, my favourite live music venue in Singapore and a great setting. I’ll be sharing some stories from my sports media career -- from chatting with David Beckham and Serena Williams to catching Sir Alex Ferguson’s famous “hairdryer” in action. There’s also a quiz, where you can test your knowledge on everything from football to American football, wrestling to kung fu, along with fun picture and video rounds. I absolutely love putting these quizzes together! Whether you’re a serious sports buff or just out for a fun evening of networking, there’s something for everyone on a night of sports anecdotes and insights, trivia, and networking, with the added bonus of meeting like-minded people and having some laughs along the way. It's going to be fun! If you're in Singapore and this fits the bill, I hope to see you there! • Over the half-term break, 16 Grade 11 students participated in NLCS (Singapore) inaugural Duke of Edinburgh Gold Expedition, completing the famous 120km Cape to Cape Track in Western Australia. This remarkable journey was more than just an adventure—it was a transformative experience for all the students involved. The expedition also offered a unique opportunity for students to immerse themselves in nature, connect with peers, and step outside of their comfort zones. The expedition demanded resilience, teamwork, and grit as the participants navigated through unfamiliar terrain, unpredictable weather, and physical fatigue. Despite the hardships, each student demonstrated unwavering determination and a commitment to pushing their boundaries, embodying the true spirit of the Duke of Edinburgh Award. Beyond the physical challenges, students developed critical life skills, including problem-solving, leadership, and collaboration. Their ability to persevere in the face of adversity is a testament to their growth and maturity throughout the program. Completing the Gold Award expedition is no small feat—it’s a testament to their dedication and hard work. Mr Tomlinson the Duke of Edinburgh Award Coordinator stated " I could not be prouder of the students, to be part of their Duke of Edinburgh journey and sharing this expedition with them was an absolute pleasure. I hope the students' achievements, experiences and memories of this expedition provide them with the skills and confidence to go on and push themselves in all facets of their life, overcoming challenges and continuing to grow as young adults. A huge thank you to the dedicated staff and volunteers who made this possible, and a heartfelt congratulations to the students for their outstanding achievements. We couldn’t be prouder of this milestone and look forward to many more in the future! #DukeofEdinburghAward #GoldExpedition #StudentAchievement #Resilience #OutdoorEducation #Leadership #PersonalGrowth #NLCSSingapore #AnExceptionalEducation

  • At NLCS (Singapore), we are excited to celebrate the success of our students’ first kale harvest from our hydroponic garden on the roof terrace, grown in just three weeks. 🌱 This initiative is part of our broader sustainability efforts, integrating hands-on learning with real-world impact. Following the harvest, staff and students enjoyed a fresh salad bar, with over 100 bowls served. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with many praising the kale’s freshness and taste. A special thank you to our partner, Greenhood Singapore, for their invaluable support in making this project a success. We look forward to expanding this initiative and providing more opportunities for students to engage in sustainability-focused projects. #SustainabilityInEducation #Hydroponics #GreenLiving #FutureLeaders #CCALearning #NLCSSingapore #AnExceptionalEducation
