Early detection to combat dementia: A new #AI-powered tool developed at #NTUsg Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKCMedicine) easily screens for mild cognitive impairment (#MCI), the early stage before #dementia. Named ReCOGnAIze, it was launched today by NTU spin-off Gray Matter Solutions in partnership with Osler Group, a premium health and wellness organisation in Singapore. Using #neuroscientific #games and AI-driven #algorithms to detect MCI, ReCOGnAIze needs only 15 minutes to work, unlike conventional neuropsychological evaluations or costly imaging diagnostics which can take hours. With clinical trials showing nearly 90 per cent accuracy, the #technology offers a promising step forward in early detection, particularly in Asia, where millions are at risk due to chronic vascular diseases like hypertension. ReCOGnAIze was developed by Associate Professor Nagaendran Kandiah, Director of the Dementia Research Centre (Singapore), and his team at Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, after three years of research and development.
