  • ✨ Taking a Pause, Taking on New Heights ✨    Meet Low Hui Xin, our Senior Manager of Human Resources at NVPC, who recently returned from an incredible three-week adventure in Switzerland and France! After a decade in the workforce, Hui Xin embraced her first extended break, made possible by NVPC’s Take-a-Pause (TAP) Leave—a two-week paid leave provided to employees for every three years of full-time service. During her time away, Hui Xin slowed down, soaked in the breathtaking scenery, and even conquered her fear of heights by going paragliding in Chamonix! It was a challenge she never imagined taking on, but one she’s proud to have accomplished. This well-deserved break has left Hui Xin refreshed, recharged, and ready to dive back into work with renewed energy and perspective. At NVPC, we believe that prioritising our employees’ well-being is not just beneficial for them—it’s good for all of us. When we take care of our people, they are motivated to create a positive impact for the organisation.

  • Volunteerism & Philanthropy on Air! 🎙️      Hear from Ellil Mathiyan Lakshmanan and Arvin Tang on what drives them to give back to society.       Both received awards at the President’s Volunteerism & Philanthropy Awards (PVPA) 2024. The PVPA is the pinnacle award and platform to recognise individuals, organisations, leaders, and cross-sector partnerships that have achieved excellence in giving.       Joining Susan Ng on CNA938's Our Town programme, Arvin highlighted how his team offers digital consultancy expertise to benefit the non-profit sector, supporting causes from animal welfare to breast cancer awareness. "We deal a lot in insights, market intelligence, and revenue acquisition work...this is what charities, NPO charities require. They need to know how to get sustained awareness, they'd like to know how to nurture better, both in terms of staff acquisition all the way to fundraising," he shared. 🤝      Speaking about the impact of sharing lived experiences with new cancer patients, Ellil highlighted the need for multifaceted resources from psychosocial support to rehabilitation for survivors and families. He shared what it meant to him to help patients diagnosed with conditions similar to his, and to be able to tell them that "there is still life after cancer, there is still life after a colostomy. There's nothing like hearing from someone who has experienced that and is still doing lots of things people think they can't do."      Tune in to the recording here: https://lnkd.in/gsWVGP9h to get Ellil and Arvin's insights on multi-sector action to build a compassionate, giving Singapore. 💕      #nvpc #nvpcsg #pvpa #pvpa2024 #CNA938 #CommunityImpact CNA Mediacorp Pte Ltd

  • Inspiring the Next Generation What does it take to work in the impact field? Resilience and passion. This was shared by Colyn Chua, NVPC's Deputy Director of Strategy and Policy, at a panel of NUS Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences’ Industry Seminar Series, titled “Building Bridges: How Community Organisations are Fostering Inclusion”. Drawing on her career journey—in which she started out as a medical social worker, moved on to develop corporate social responsibility strategies in the private sector, and now contributes to strategy and policy at NVPC—she reflected on the challenges and rewards of building a career in the social impact field. She also emphasised the power of research-based insights, collaboration, and creating vibrant communities to drive real-world change. Colyn encouraged NUS undergraduates to pursue meaningful work that aligns with their values and contributes to the greater good. Colyn also shared NVPC’s vital role in fostering Singapore’s giving ecosystem, built on the 5Ts (time, talent, treasure, ties, and testimony) and the 3Es (everyone giving every day, everywhere). It's our privilege to motivate future professionals in and beyond the social service field, encouraging them to champion causes and make a meaningful impact. A heartfelt thanks to NUS Centre for Future-ready Graduates for the opportunity to engage the next wave of bright minds! 💡  #nvpc #nvpcsg #nuslife National University of Singapore
