Sometimes, magic happens when you least expect it. ✨ When Everest Ng, the startup manager at Terrapinn, the organiser of the Accounting & Business Show Asia at Marina Bay Sands, reached out to me about having a startup booth at the event for OtterHalf, a marketing agency with a core focus on operating as businesses' fractional marketing teams, I had no expectations. However, I said yes because: 🔵 I know how challenging business development can be. 🔵 I wanted to support a friend. We wrapped up Day 1 of the event yesterday, and I found it refreshing that people actually came to our booth to inquire about what we do (usually, it’s the other way around). It was also encouraging to see how receptive businesses are to engaging fractional marketing services. But what surprised me the most were some of the comments from people I hardly knew: 🚀 "I’ve heard of OtterHalf before." 🚀 "Did you know you were nominated for an award? I was one of the judges!" 🚀 "Love your brief yet effective presentation." 🚀 "I’m launching a YouTube channel next week—would you be interested in being a guest?" 🚀 "Your credit plan model is really smart!" 🚀 "I love your name - so cute!" My new found realisation: attending a trade show not only helps us refine our pitch, but also gives us insights into the market's perception of both fractional marketing and our brand. It was an eye-opening experience yesterday, and we’re otterly excited to see what Day 2 has in store for us. If you're at the show today, feel free to drop by our startup booth SP48. 💪🏻 P.S Big shoutout to my business development team members Melisa Ong and Katyaini Reddy who worked tirelessly alongside me on Day 1 🔥

Just in case you’re wondering how my name came about 🤔

Why the name “OtterHalf”? I get this question more often than you might imagine, ever since I founded OtterHalf, a marketing agency with a core focus on operating as businesses’ fractional marketing teams. When I was invited by Rahal Kansara, founder of geek ltd—a company that supports startups with all things talent-related—to be a guest on her podcast, I had a feeling this question would come up. Despite explaining the name hundreds of times, I’ve never once grown tired of it, and I hope you enjoy this 44-second video as much as I enjoyed filming it. 😊

A few weeks ago, the otters had the opportunity to present our vision at Halal Food Week, organised by Have Halal Will Travel, alongside founders from SMU Business Innovation Programme (BIG). Apart from the great food and atmosphere, we had the opportunity to understand the Halal food sector, as we engaged directly with F&B leaders of Timbre Group and Black Hole Group. Thank you so much for the invite SMU Business Innovations Generator by IIE and Mikhail Melvin Goh from Have Halal Will Travel!
